Well exit the methotrexate and enter the leflunomide.
At my rheumy appointment today the consultant recommended
leflunomide
as this is meant to be good for joint/muscle problems. As I hadn't read about this previously it was all a bit new to me.........but feel I should give this one a go.

Has anyone done a Leflunomide wash-out?
I've been on
leflunomide
for a few years and now want to start trying for a baby. So I've been adivsed I need to do a wash-out with charcoal or cholestyramine. Has anyone else done this? What is it like? I've heard it makes you quite ill (with vomiting and diarrohea) as it clears everything out.

It turns out I do have PMR after all!!
He is now going to put me on
Leflunomide
( a DMARD) which, he says has better results with PMR than Methotrexate, which I took for over 6 months with no benefit at all, and should help me to taper the pred.

I started taking this exactly 7 days ago. Today I feel sick and just plain weird. A bit dream like I suppose. I know the sickness is one of the side effects, but the weird feeling, has anyone else had this, and how long did it last? Thanks for any help xxx

Psoriatic Arthritis Continues Despite Biologics, MTX and Leflunomide
Presently am taking MTX,
Leflunomide
and Simponi, the biologic. But the inflammation and pain goes on. I have had several good summers, able to do what I wanted and needed to do, but admit the Winters in northern OHIo are not so kind.

RA and Methotrexate
Then put on
Leflunomide
which was no better so I agreed to go back on the Methotrexate as told there was not much more I could be given. Have now been on the injections again for around 5 months with all the side effects I was getting before and have been given a higher dose to try for 4 weeks.

Battling it out for a bit long on cimzia, any ideas to help the side effects?
I'm staying on
leflunomide
too. I have a prescription for a higher dose of anti-sickness tabs too (cyclizine). Any ideas on how to combat the headaches and sickness plese? I really can't tolerate peppermint tea, never have. Do you reckon ginger capsules will be any good? Thanks!

knowing the difference between RA pain, and OA (osteoarthritis) pain
I have been on MXT for 3 years, was put onto
leflunomide
with it...then when that was not working they stopped the Leflun & put me on enbrel (still with mxt).. enbrel was not giving the result that consult wanted, so it was replaced by sulf....... which I could not tolerate, hence I am now back to just

Am I making it all up? ESR & CRP normal, joints don't LOOK particularly swollen, but pain and stiffness worse than ever before. Anyone else?
Also on
Leflunomide
and low dose steroid. Starting to wonder if it's all in my head. Thanks for reading.

Do you ever feel that the medication causes more stress than the disease itself?
Then, I have the monthly bouts of thrush thanks to MTX and headaches from
leflunomide
and of course, the countless infections and viruses and colds. Sometimes I wonder if it would be best just to let the RA rage on because at least I'd know what to expect.

hydroxychloroquine: how long to take effect?
However it then affected my liver so was put on
leflunomide
which again seemed to really help and had the added benefit of no brain fog. However it was short lived as I got a very bad rash!
