L5 S1 fusion, laminectomy and bilateral foraminotomy
I am coming up on 3 months post op. I go to therapy 2 x a week and can walk moderately for 15-30 minutes a day but every time I think I am making progress as far as being pain free I have a bad spell needing meds, ice and heat again. I am 60 and may just be slow to heal?

FYI, I have back issues and originally was due to get a
laminectomy
. With everything going on I wasn’t sure where the pain was coming from.

L5 S1 laminectomy, foraminotomy and fusion
My surgery is Feb 15. Can anyone share what to expect recovery and pain wise. I will have a home health PT and nurse home visit the night of the surgery and the following day. I am really scared.

Why is my incision still draining?
On November 18th I had back surgery, an L3-L4
laminectomy
, and an L4-L5 discectomy. Everything went like clockwork for the first two weeks or so, then the incision started to drain.

thanks to all....and curious about palliative care?
he performed a
laminectomy
but said nothing more he can do...that he is afraid my spine will crumble with aggressive surgery. i am doing this on my own without any outside help. just trying to advocate for myself.

Spinal Stenosis
In 2018 I had a
Laminectomy
Operation to relieve pressure on my lower back, L3/4 and 5. The operation was, initially a success but after about 5/6 months the pain returned.

PCa and now bladder cancer and kidney problems.
I’m reading about
laminectomy
. My quality of life isn’t so good and I got to figure all these things out. Ideas for pain radiating down both buttocks?

There's more of us than I thought!
Since then I've had several major surgeries - including a HOLEP (prostate op), right hemicolectomy (Colon cancer) and last week a
laminectomy
(spinal compression) from which I'm now recovering painfully and slowly at home. . (There's more but I won't bore you!).

Another flare, this time post-surgery
I had a lumbar
laminectomy
on Sept 9th, after realising the terrible pain in my back and legs wasn't all PMR. (It can be so hard to differentiate these pains!) The spinal surgery went well, but the recovery was more painful than I'd expected, and analgesia wasn't working.

Pre-op Flare?
I'm having a
laminectomy
tomorrow (spinal surgery.) I've been OK on 12mg Pred, but feel I'm having a flare. (Pain, feeling unwell.) I get little advice from GP, rhuemy won't respond. The anesthetist is guided by me. Should I try a bigger dose today and tomorrow to get me through?

Prednisone and spinal surgery
In a week I am having a
laminectomy
to relieve pressure on my spinal cord and nerves. Diagnosed with PMR in April 2019. Currently on 12.5mg prednisone, and on a very slow taper to 11.5mg over 5 weeks. How should I manage my steroid dose before and after surgery? Should I up the dose for a few days?

Newbie on chronic pain forum. Moved sideways from heart forum.
Had 2 surgeries already far...... 1)
laminectomy
L4-L5 2) number 1 was unsuccessful. Since had full discectomy L4-L5, with titanium screws and rod. Partial discectomy L3-L4. Condition is spreading up and down. Now have chronic pain L5-S1-S2.

In 1973, I had a benign brain tumor removed which required a cervical
laminectomy
. Could this cause the pain? What path should I take in a pandemic where I can only see Dr. by post!

Can’t stand straight due to arthritis in low back
Had
laminectomy
mid 2016 followed by infection and use of WoundVac machine for 16 weeks. During this period of relative inactivity my back has become very stiff and I am very stooped over when walking. Family practice doctor only prescribed strong pain meds.

L5/S1 fusion last week. How long does this initial really bad pain last?
At the same time a
laminectomy
of a disc a bit higher up. It was soooo much harder than I had expected. I was in surgery for a while and then 2 and a half hours in the recovery room before being wheeled back to the ward.

Thank you for all the responses
I am 57 and had a C3 to T1 cervical
laminectomy
and fusion this past February. My recovery is still in progress, but I am happy with the results. Better range of motion no headaches no other negative symptoms. October 10th was a 1 year anniversary of being breast cancer free. Hurray for me!
