I'm just about to start my 3rd round of
interferon
, ribravarin based meds covering 2 years of my life. First time I was non detectable at 48weeks but it didn't stick on my 3 month check. Next up I did rib' and int' in conjunction with telaprivir which was absolutely horrible.

Interferon, low mood and 5htp....
So I've been on
interferon
for a few months for ET. And whilst the physical side effects are unpleasant they are improving. The mental/emotional ones are really starting to get hard. I am painfully aware that I need to give the whole thing time to settle and work.

HFI Patient Connect Request
Wendy underwent two attempts to rid her body of the virus which included
interferon
and then
interferon
plus ribavirin which failed. Wendy continued therapy and a 3rd attempt with sovaldi and ribavirin was successful. Unfortunately, with 35 years of hep C, her liver was cirrhotic.

Getting things sorted
I have failed treatment on
interferon
and my genotype (3a) is tough to treat combined with being newly diagnosed with cirrhosis and still compensated I can't wait any longer. I may need to take a trip across the ditch to Australia. We have a buyers club that can help us get perscribed medications.

Interferon
Interferon
has destroyed my life, I have cryoglobunemia, aches, pains, brain fog and extreme fatigue. I was not told that this drug can lead to more problems, I was not told that I could have been monitered and with some life style changes lived with the virus.

pegylated interferon?
She would like to try me on peg
interferon
as she feels its more suitable than HU at my age. Any experience of this - would like to hear about the side effects. HU going well for me, but recently my haemoglobin crashed and we dont know why. Its gradually climbing, but so are my platelets :-(

First post ....
My platelet level varied between 1100 and 1600 and recently the doctors found out that my Von Willebrand factor is low, so on top of being at risk of clots, I also bleed strangely.... so on discovery of this I have started taking
interferon
(I put this off for ages, I'm not a fan of medication....)

Hydroxycarbamide v Pegasys Interferon
I am leaning towards
interferon
but am worried as I have always suffered with depression so it concerns me that this will worsen? Has anyone found this to be a major problem. I was also told they both lower our immune system, how concerning is this, would we need to avoid people with colds?

Why am I always tired and sad? What can I do?
I was diagnosed with melanoma (I got away lucky and only had to do
interferon
therapy for 20 months after the operation - no fun, but I managed) and at the same time my boyfriend of six years cheated on me while abroad for five months and we broke up after a long fuss.

Out of date Interferon
I discovered that my Intron A
interferon
was 3 months out of date when I went to give myself my jab last night. Does anyone know if this is dangerous? Thanks Mel x

Is this newest pill absolutely safe??
May I say I've gone through every clinical trial which included
interferon
injections, pegatron injections with ribavin non of which worked at all. In fact I almost died from the last one which evidently caused more health problems.

Starting Interferon
Well that was an interesting morning! Went to my appointment knowing I'd probably need to start treatment as my platelets have been climbing for a while - had decided to opt for HU and negotiate a delay of a couple of weeks as I've got a very busy October. Ended up opting for Pegasys instead and injecting
