I think I might need a second opinion regarding my Behçet’s diagnosis & management. What do you think?
My rheumatologists again reached out to the clinic to enquire about other treatments, like
infliximab
.

Infliximab and 5th vaccine dose
Hi there, I am currently on the loading doses of
infliximab
by infusion. (2 weeks, 2 weeks and then 4 weeks). I just had the second one yesterday. I’m due the 5th covid vaccine jab and would very much like it to have taken effect before attending my son’s graduation at the beginning of July.

Palpitations
In July, I asked my gastroenterologist for the second time to take me off current medication (
Infliximab
) as I was experiencing the same long term side effects.

Worries over new drug treatment : Infliximab
Due to continuing inflammation, my RA has suggested that I stay on low dose Prednisolone (5mg) and MTX injections (15mg) but also start receiving infusions every 8weeks of
Infliximab
.

Protection against COVID-19
After a single dose of vaccine, only about one third of participants (103 of 328) treated exclusively with
infliximab
generated adequate levels of antibodies to the virus for the vaccine to be considered effective.

PRED AND METHOTREXATE DILEMMA! PMR versus Crohns
I have been put on
Infliximab
infusions for the Crohns, and then, after having agreed to this treatment, threw into the pot that they also want me to take methotrexate as well, to prevent me making antibodies against the
Infliximab
- which is apparently a possibility.

I have an

Skin breakouts and hair loss
I am taking dapsone, colchicine, amitriptyline, folic acid, leflunomide, keppra, and
Infliximab
(every 4 weeks, 900 mg). I wanted to know if any one has random skin breakouts on their face, as well as have skin issue on your bottom. As well as hair loss. I did some research.

Probiotics
Plus I have a drip
infliximab
every 8 weeks. These drugs have changed my life for the last 7 years after I had a major flare up in 2014. I believe my remission was helped not only by the drugs but also the probiotics and I also no longer work to keep stress low.

Could this be a PMR flare? Or Biologic infusion issue?
To complicate matters, I have had two loading doses of a biologic (
Infliximab
infusions) to try to get my Crohns into remission. Do you think I should be increasing my steroid dose short or long term? I did wonder if it was to do with the infusions but feels so like PMR - but not bilateral.

Common IBS/IBD treatment blunts COVID-19 vaccine response.
The research found that people treated with
infliximab
had significantly lower concentrations of antibodies, when compared to 428 people on an alternative treatment, vedolizumab. https://www.exeter.ac.uk/news/research/title_855647_en.html BMJ Journals, Gut.

Should You Get the COVID-19 Vaccine If You Have a History of Allergic Reactions to Infused or Injectable Medications?
Two common biologics to be aware of are
infliximab
(Remicade) and rituximab (Rituxan).
Infliximab
(Remicade) is a commonly prescribed biologic that can cause allergic reactions in some patients.
