Scar from Cox-maze procedure
I already have a scar from my
ICD
implant and being young (ish) at 44, I'd like to have an idea of what it will look like. Not that it would affect my decision, I'm just curious. Thanks, B

ICD therapy and reapplying for driving licence
I had an
ICD
fitted last August and voluntarily surrendered my licence. It was tough, but I did it over the phone and the DVLA person was really helpful and empathetic. I then received device therapy in October, which reset the 6 month clock.

ICD and driving - how long to be able to drive again?
Investigations as to type and cause still happening.Whatever I am being advised I will have an
ICD
fitted. What are your real world experiences on how long it takes to be allowed to drive from having the implant? I have looked back for info but the threads don't seem simple or specific.

I/V ICD update on query 15 days ago
I posted a query on experience of having a Boston Instruments I/V cardioverter defibrillator fitted as I was getting bumps and beats since the implant three weeks ago. I gave feedback following contact with the hospital who advised me no issues and I needed to let it settle down.Today I took a call

Just wo Deri g if anyone can relate to this, it's traumatising every time his
ICD
shocks him, it's like our lives are on hold , no previous heart problems ever, he had just turned 54 . On the second shock with the
ICD
the consultant 3 days prior changed him from sotalol to nebivolol .

Hi,Had my subcutaneous
ICD
fitted just over a month ago. So thought I'd post to let anyone else having one know how it is living with one. Firstly I am doing fine, it was weird at first having a box inside me, but you soon just get on with it.

Mrs Mac.
He has arrhythmic type cardiomyopathy, an
icd
implant and he has been in heart failure for 7 years now. He changed his diuretic (furosemide)a few months ago due to side effect of gout attacks. The current one (bumetanide) is causing agonising muscle cramps.

Persistent afib treatment options, can't tolerate Amiodarone - so many questions...
ICD
is currently programmed to kick in at 40. He's had bradycardia for many years, never any symptoms.

Ablation/S-ICD Recovery Time - why is it taking so long?
Eventually, I was discharged after an ablation and having a subcutaneous
ICD
fitted. They switched me to nebivolol and kept the Ramipril. There was very little improvement over the next four weeks, so they added some dapagliflozin to help the heart muscle and try to reduce symptoms.

ICD and Driving
- I'm unsure if I really need the
ICD
and having one does mean some restrictions in the future.

Back to work after icd fitted
Hi. My husband suffers from AF and 7 years ago, was diagnosed with cardiomyopathy. Has an ef of 25%. He is a groundworker/machine driver by trade. His Dr has said he will be unable to return to his work as he would need a fit to work medical, which he would fail. It seems most driving jobs, plant machinery

IV-ICD Lead failure follow up and advice on reducing infection risk #chinkoflight
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC8221047/This is a follow up to a post a month ago on lead failure in my recent
ICD
implant (12/3/24). The EP pacing technicians had picked up a lead problem on the atrial pacing lead 4 weeks ago and three weeks after the device was implanted.

More recently my
ICD
has delivered a couple of life saving shocks due to VT events. Weight and mental health issues are compounding challenges for my recovery but I’m trying whatever I can.

My story
After the ablation all was good heart 57bpm, it was agreed I could return to work the following week, however on the Sunday I had a cardiac arrest with my wife doing Cpr until paramedic arrived, I was then airlifted to hospital and on 23 of October I had a
ICD
fitted.
