Hi. I recently went for an hearing test, knew my hearing one side was not good. After the test he asked me some questions ‘did I have have tinnitus in one side’ Yes. Did I have facial numbness - yes. He then dropped the bombshell that he suspected a tumour. Eventually got to see my doctor who referred

Clinic letter gives some clarity
Anticoagulant clinic going ok and in range at the moment, so stopped
heparin
injections (phew!). Next clinic on Monday. So I do feel a little further forward and have some hope of getting back to normal - whatever that’s going to be in the current world.

New diagnosis
Been started on short term
heparin
and long term warfarin. Feeling pretty nervous about it all. I normally lead a busy hectic life with lots of travel, including months at a time in Africa.

Bilateral sudden sensorineural hearing loss with Sweet syndrome: A case report
[CASE-STUDY] Bilateral sudden sensorineural hearing loss with Sweet syndrome: A case report. THIS ARTICLE INCORRECTLY STATES THAT SWEET'S SYNDROME (SS) IS AUTOIMMUNE. SS IS AUTOINFLAMMATORY. IT ALSO STATES THAT IT'S IDIOPATHIC (UNKNOWN CAUSE). THIS IS ONLY TRUE IN APPROX. 50% OF CASES. This is a case

Help I’m confused
Hi there I am sure this is a familiar story but new to me so any advice welcome. Started to experience ‘heartbeat sound’ in my right ear so went for a hearing test. Audiologist said my ear was so full of wax that he couldn’t see my eardrum. Advised me to use olive oil spray then see a micro suction specialist

Alvin - update
Started on
Heparin
drip. Couple days later, his blood levels dropped to critical. Thinking that his cancer med, Lynparza, was the true cause of his blood level problem, it was stopped on May 13th. He was given several plasma infusions.

Hi, I have tinnitus and I believe some hearing loss in my left ear. I saw my gp today who observed my left ear canal is pink and inflamed. He then suggested I get a spec savers hearing test and return to gp if my ear beings to itch or is in pain. I am concerned I’m being fobbed off here but I really

Broken ankle update
They also gave me
heparin
which I have to inject into my (roll of fat) stomach to prevent blood clots while I'm immobile. Lovely. Anyway, had my appointment at fracture clinic where they x-rayed again, and everything is healing well. I had TWO fractures?!! One has almost healed already.

I was only told in the past week that this was probably caused by the

Induced Thrombocytopenia, but the ICU at the last hospital did not do anything when his toes turned purple and black. When I asked about them, I was told, "Don't worry about it."

Hello Bad day yesterday again, never rains when it pores, I had my hearing test yesterday and it came back that I was moderate to serve death. Ive also now decided to have all my hair cut off so it would be easy for me to do, as I'm having really bad pains in my wrist. I keep having panic attacks as

CORONAVIRUS AND THE ANTIPHOSPHOLIPID (HUGHES’) SYNDROME (APS)INFORMATION FOR PATIENTS
In general, hospital inpatients are given prophylaxis against thrombosis with
heparin
, so if you are on oral anticoagulation already, this will continue or may be changed to
heparin
injections and will be closely monitored according to the drug you are on to reduce the risk of thrombosis.

Hi, hoping for some reassurance(hope!) that my current situation is not permanent. Late 2019 and things got a bit worse and

Coronavirus Experience with APS
Everyone seemed to be clotting, as everyone was being injected with
heparin
. More relevant to APS patients is perhaps the craziness of my INR. Usually, I'm on 11 mg of Warfarin. They took me down to 3 mg and INR continued to climb to 6.
