Alendronic acid and raised Potassium levels
Hi I have been on Alendronic acid for 4 mths now. I have - 3 lumbar spinal osteoporosis but also have chronic kidney deficiency. My past two blood tests are showing raised 5.7 mmols/l and I’m wondering if it’s linked to my Alendronic acid?

Can’t stop worrying!
Hi I’ve recently been diagnosed with fatty liver disease, I’ve got my blood tests this week to see how bad I am. The thing is I’ve literally never been ill and I’m now thinking I’m going to die due to this diagnosis! I can’t shake the fact that even me changing my diet won’t help me! I hate overthinking

Hyponatremia, Raynaud's and P.S.V.T

How To Make Melatonin Lotion : A More Efficient Way Of Getting Melatonin Compared To Oral Melatonin And A Surprise Finding
A major problem I see with oral melatonin is the very poor bioavailability of oral melatonin, thought to be around 3% in humans as discussed here : https://bmcpharmacoltoxicol.biomedcentral.com/articles/10.1186/s40360-016-0052-2#:~:text=Elimination%20half%2Dlives%20following%20oral,between%20the%20volunteers

ECG same 9 months post TAVI as 6 months before?
On Tuesday I had to be taken to Casualty. I was there for only three hours, during which I had an ECG, blood tests and a detailed discussion with a doctor. Her many findings have just appeared on my GP Patient Record, and I've spent half-an-hour deciphering all the medical abbreviations. I was a little

ECG not recording heart blockage
I write this long winded message to raise awareness about ECGs and blood tests not recognising angina. Over the last few months I have had very frequent angina both at rest and in exercise. My medication for a previous HA was increased to maximum dosage in January due to a visit to A&E and as usual

Are all Blood Pressure Meds Awful?
I realise they may be/are lifesaving, but after nearly 30 years I am running out of options for BP control. For many years I took 25mg atenolol, 20 Lisinopril and 1.5 Indapamide. The latter seemed to make the biggest difference. I can’t take large doses of beta blockers as they stop me from breathing

Mixing pills (prescription and over-the-counter)
A frequent query is about the effect of pills and how one might interact with another. The usual advice is to read the leaflet and check with one's pharmacist or GP. On occasion I've suggested that Googling and consulting

New to PA and need info and support
Hi, for nearly 10 years I have been returning blood tests with low b12 levels, recently these have been 140 / 155 / 170 and 2 weeks ago 165. I continued to advise GP that there was an issue. In 2018 I had 6 loading doses but no follow up treatments. Throughout 2023 I reported tiredness and more concerningly

daft question, but I'm puzzled!
while I am waiting for my next CT scan next Thursday, and the latest batch of blood test results, can anybody else who has the same 'badly controlled asthma with bronchiectasis on top' tell me if painful and weak thighs and upper arms are part of the symptom bundle, or am I on my own! I haven't changed

Determining if you'll never need treatment. It is feasible and safe to stop specialized follow-up of asymptomatic lower risk CLL?
Regular readers will have often heard that around 30% of those diagnosed with CLL never need treatment. So how is it determined whether you fall into that category and if so, what's the best way to monitor whether your CLL/SLL becomes no longer asymptomatic? For the former, we have

Anyone turn down a stem cell transplant?
I have post ET MF. Currently I'm on Rux and getting monthly cycles of 5 aza. I don't need transfusions. Day to day I feel pretty good and can do most of what I want. The SCT was recommended because of the risk of progression to AML. I'm finding the decision making to get the SCT very difficult. My

Follicle Sos.. why is it always so stressful….
Just reaching out for views/advice, appreciate no one here can give medical advice but my clinic in Cyprus is closed, they are in bed! the clinic have been quite lazy this time around on my last precious cycle, they have given me no plan, so I had no advance warning of when to scan get blood tests.
