I was told I had osteopenia whist workng as nurse in the xray department ( a dexa scan machine was new so all females were able to have a scan to give experience to the radiographers who had been trained in osteoporosis and scanning, I must admit I did have several scans under this 'scheme' and eventually

Best Vit K2 Supplement UK, Anyone?
Hi all, I have osteoporosis but no
fractures
. Consultant says my spine is not bad on my latest MRI. I'm 66. However, he wants me to take Risedronate 35mg starting from now. Worried as I am about potential future breaks, I really don't want to take it, mainly because of the possible side effects.

FDA alert re: denosumab
This was issued specifically re: Prolia, with no mention of Xgeva. However patients should be alerted, and of course don't change your medications without first speaking to your doctor about this. https://www.fda.gov/drugs/drug-safety-and-availability/fda-adds-boxed-warning-increased-risk-severe-hypocalcemia-patients-advanced-chronic-kidney-disease

Right phrenic nerve paralysis
Path from RP showed extensive perineural involvement. No other risk factors for phrenic nerve paralysis. Haven't talked to MO yet, but sure concerned it's tumor invasion. PSA still <0.04.

Teriparatide - what to do next?
I’ve recently finished 2 years of Teriparatide injections. Endocrinologist wants me to take Alendronic acid tablets but I’m not keen. Teriparatide is the first treatment I’ve had and osteoporosis classed as severe. One fracture of L2 few years back. I wondered what protocol other people have tried after

Orgovyx + Abiaterone?
I have very high risk prostate cancer (Gleason 9, negative PSMA for spread, MRI suggests possible spread to seminal vessel, PSA in 7s before treatment). Due to cardiac history (stroke and heart attack) MO is being cautious and has started dosing Eligard at 1 Month intervals to make sure I am doing ok

Ok here we go again, excuse me if this was already gone over. I know Pomegranate has stated benefits, but in combo with these other supps may increase the benefits according to this study done on patients and our favored friends, the mice- lol. For me if it can't harm and may help then why not.

Does bone loss (osteoporosis) show up on an MRI?
This might seem like a strange question but I've been curious about this for a while. Several years ago, I told my doctor that I had (still have) a weird burning sensation in the center of my back, in my thoracic spine. She she said she was going to order an MRI of my entire spine. In November 2017,

Thank you everybody
Thank you everybody for bearing with me as I poured out my frustrations and anxieties with my current treatment plan over my last several posts, and for all your comments and advice. I called my MO's office this morning and left a voice mail detailing my declining status and the fact that I was done

Meninges
My husbands cancer has spread to his meninges (layers between the brain and skull). He already has completed radiation to the head for a tumor in his sinus cavity. He just got out of the hospital yesterday on blood thinners for blood clots in his brain. He has had one Pluvicto treatment so far

Bicalutamide and Eligard
PSA went up to 0.87. Doctor recommend Eligard (Lupron) with bicalutimide and dutasteride. No choice. I went thru thus on Jan 10, 2024. Hospital said I have to run thru Eligard for 24 months on a quarterly basis. Every 3 month. Doctor Said Eligard works only for 2 years, and I have to find another

How soon after taking 4 month eligard shot can you switch to firmagon?
I started my hormone treatment with firmagon + apalutamide beginning 2023. The treatment worked fantastic and all my pain faded away and my psa dropped from 350 to .09 over 11 months. My life was as near normal as can be expected with cancer. Almost immediately my MO was recomending to switch to 4

Any Data or MO Advice Regarding Dutasteride / Finasteride At Very Early Biochemical Recurrence?
Does anyone know of any studies or MO advice they've gotten regarding use of Dutasteride or Finasteride at very early signs of Biochemical Reccurrence (uPSA in the 0.03 - 0.1 range) prior to Salvage Radiotherapy? It's obviously going to slow PSA doubling time and thereby probably lengthen the time

Just fyi for the guys that asked, ……. I saw my new oncologist today and I’m Very impressed with her. Sharp as a tack , very well informed and bright, a sweetheart as others have said. she is new and already held in high esteem by her peers. I feel lucky to have her as my next oncologist.

Letting Go
If it is one thing that I have after almost 18 years of playing this game, it is a story or perhaps many stories. So Many chapters. What I am about to say may seem easy from the perspective of undetectable PSA and clear scans these past 10 years. I assure you that at the time there was nothing easy about
