Inhalers & Apnea
Inhaled corticosteroids such as
fluticasone
may quell the symptoms of asthma, but a recently published University of Wisconsin-Madison pilot study suggests that in some people, these inhaled drugs make the throat and tongue more floppy, promoting sleep apnea.

New Combination Inhaler
She's just put me on
Fluticasone
250mcg/Formoterol10mcg inhaler to see if this one makes any difference. Though she notices that my PF dips during the late part of the week, and can really jump up at the weekends. Though the highest it's been is 360.

Moon face woes
Hydrocortisone is only 1/5 the strength of pred, so I'm only on about 2mg pred equivalent, plus 500mg/day of
fluticasone
(in the Seretide). I don't understand why I'm getting such bad side effects from the steroids.

Symbicort versus Advair (No I am not an advocate for either Pharma! merely making info available)
recently published in the British Medical Journal, shows that treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) patients with SYMBICORT® (budesonide/formoterol) was associated with a lower incidence of pneumonia and pneumonia related death, compared to treatment of COPD patients with ADVAIR® (

Switching inhalers instead of adding things - wondering about options
I should have asked why he didn't think that was an option as he will have had one), and would switching around eg Seretide instead of Symbicort, or adding more inhaled steroid eg
fluticasone
as well as the budesonide in Symbicort) make any difference?

GP restrictions on inhalers
I have been to the GP today to collect a repeat prescription for a
fluticasone
inhaler (Flixotide) to be told the practice does not prescribe these any more.

Does anyone else get this?
Flovent is the
Fluticasone
or Flixotide steriod element. Atrovent is a brand name for ipratropium. Anyway, it seems you are seeing your doctor about this but perhaps best go back and maybe see another. A lot of people here also have problems with no wheeze and doctors.
