Levetiracetam (Keppra) to help in some cases of RLS.
I know you guys, know your stuff about restless leg syndrome, & may have read this article, but thought it was worth posting for thoughs who have suffered augmentation from
Dopamine
antagonist, & are looking at other treatments rather than opioids.

Its normal function is to degrade
dopamine
and and it creates reactive oxygen species in the brain that damage cells. In PD the MAOB may be elevated. Epicatechin and catechin and garlic help inhibit excess MAOB.

Is RLS / PLMS really the cause of all my problems ?
I thought that only happened with
dopamine
agonists and not on opiates / opioids ? Most of what I have read on forums etc suggest the overwhelming symptoms of RLS / PLMS are pain / uncomfortable sensations and this is what has a serious impact on quality of life.

My subtype : Postprandial and orthostatic hypotension in Parkinson's disease. 1987
A significant relationship was found in the PD group between the degree of postprandial hypotension and the 24-hour mean value of
dopamine
excretion. Eight PD subjects also showed orthostatic hypotension during the tilt test (performed in the morning hours) and in the postprandial phase.

Therapeutic strategies for Parkinson disease: beyond dopaminergic drugs
Existing therapeutic strategies for managing Parkinson disease (PD), which focus on addressing the loss of
dopamine
and dopaminergic function linked with degeneration of dopaminergic neurons, are limited by side effects and lack of long-term efficacy.

Have someone had an experience with a supplement that works as a MAO inhibitor in PD?
Although bupropion is a med for depression it works to me in my walking coordination because it capabilities to increase
dopamine
. I quit after 5 years in a row on that med as started to having small seizures just noted by people surrounding me.

How I tried to keep my Dopamine agonist dose under control for >10 years
I just now read a comment by involuntary dancer who wondered if reducing dose when effectiveness goes down might help to get a longer effective period out of
dopamine
agonist treatments.

Introduction!
I have been to my GP and had a blood test, all of which showed normal results so i was started on a course of
Dopamine
which did nothing for me and also Ropinirole. During the summer months, i have noticed a major decrease in the urges and sensations.

Has anyone successfully weaned off DA meds and feeling ok
So my question is, has anyone weaned off of DA's and went back to their pre
dopamine
antagonist life and found it more tolerable than dealing with augmentation, anxiety, restless body etc.

Sources of dopamine
My original neuro said there was a choice between natural and synthetic
dopamine
. The former would give more immediate results where the latter was better over the long term. I've never asked what I'm actually getting. Is it porcine brains. 🐷

All you need to know about the Mitochondria , the cell Powerhouse
All these may directly or indirectly affect the mitochondrial function of protein degradation systems, including UPS and ALP, and thereby, cause the death of
dopamine
neurons.”
