Has anyone tried “compassionate use” or “right to try” laws?
I’m getting pretty desperate here as hubby can no longer tolerate any
dopamine
therapy. He’s only 61, can barely speak or walk, and I have to help him with almost everything.

I would also love to know if any of you have been able to successfully go back on
dopamine
agonists after a break from Them. A drug holiday was suggested to me . TIA

Buprenorphine transition from patch to tablets
Hey Everyone With the help of a 20 mg 7 day Buprenorphine patch, I have been free of any
dopamine
agonist for almost 3 months. But as we all know, the patch does not last 7 days, 5 if you are lucky. Consequently, I change it every 5 days and have had pretty good results.

The 40 Hz flickering light restores synaptic plasticity and mitochondrial phenotype in experimental model of Alzheimer's disease May 2024
STZ injection led to significant accumulation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and amyloid beta (Aβ), decreased serotonin and
dopamine
levels, and mitochondrial respiration. The 40 Hz flickering light reversed all these parameters in the light treatment group.

Off Dyskinesia-anyone else have it? What's your fix?
The movements specialist ignored the fact that this was caused by the reduced dosage and claimed I was a
dopamine
junkie and needed to reduce the dosage and frequency.

Neuromodulation for RLS
It is promising that researchers are more aware of the dangers of
dopamine
agonists than the doctors treating RLS on a daily basis.

Diagnosed age 44, 46 now - what I learned about Rytary
What I realize now is that having too much
dopamine
from the medication can feel somewhat similar to my typical PD symptems (tight lower back/left side/muscle pain etc).

BREAKING NEWS. New Draft Guidelines by American Sleep Academy for RLS
There is a CONDITIONAL recommendation AGAINST
dopamine
agonists, making the point that in some cases, eg end of life care, it may be appropriate to accept the short term relief from RLS. I haven't yet listened to the full video.as I was too excited and wanted to share the news.

Interestingly,
dopamine
levels inside neurons are already elevated in people with PD. Dr. Sackner-Bernstein proposes repurposing and testing a
dopamine
-reducing therapy in Phase 2 trials, having completed the pre-IND process.

Folate
Some of the symptoms I am currently experiencing MORE of the last couple of weeks could relate to being a little low in Folate ie. more fatigue, weakness, poor concentration and memory and because it helps regulate serotonin and
dopamine
levels, I am experiencing more depression, but it's difficult

Role of Dopamine and Brain Iron stores
How is it known/thought that
dopamine
plays a role in RLS? So, is there a test for this or research to confirm scientifically that it is playing a role? Also, how is it known/ thought that brain iron stores play a role?

Influence of sunlight on dopamine transporters.
For this, a substance is introduced into the bloodstream that can bind to the '
dopamine
transporter' located in
dopamine
brain cells and recycle
dopamine
after release (to communicate with other brain cells) so that it can be used again.

PARKINSON’S BREAKTHROUGH: LINK DISCOVERED BETWEEN DISEASE AND BRAIN
These cells produce
dopamine
, the chemical that helps control movement. When they’re not working at full capacity, they don’t produce enough
dopamine
, resulting in tremors, stiffness and slowed movement.

Severe RLS Augmentation on Pramipexole
A second neurologist recommended
dopamine
agonists and I have to say that for several years I was thrilled to have my life back. I was first prescribed pergolide which I took for 8/9 years until I discovered from my own reading that it was known to produce heart valve problems.

DIY Parkinson's Glove Users - How are you adjusting?
I'm trying to see if there are any trends that would imply that this is replacing or amplifying
dopamine
, acting as an agonist or some other outcome. Myself, the glove has been great during ON times, but my OFF times have been increasing in severity.

TTFD - I think I made a judgment error.
My Motion Disorder Specialist indicated that activity consumes
dopamine
. I have read that one way to increase production of
dopamine
is exercise. It is not unreasonable to conclude exercise can cause a demand of
dopamine
higher than your body can produce.

Post Illness Food Issues?
Even my "
dopamine
foods" are unappealing. I've resorted to eating cereal or nuts and cheese to quell my stomach but that is obviously not sustainable. I feel ridiculous being a forty four year old woman eating frosted mini wheats for lunch.
