Trial for dopamine- responsive Dystonia?
I've come a long way, and enjoy meeting others in the same boat. Only been on Carbidopa- levodopa about a week. It's working like a muscle relaxer for me. I need to learn more. Would this mean I carry the Parkinson's gene? Anyone know of trials? Lucky me has several things going on. Just like most of

The hospice have been trialling
dopamine
patches to try to keep him more aware but after a good initial response, it has lost its effectiveness. When he is awake, at times, he seems to be on different plane and we aren't sure how aware he is of what is going on around him.

Weaning off dopamine agonist a nightmare
I would like to thank everyone for posting on here. I realize how certain treatments can help some but not others so the more information we can get to try really helps. I am in the process of weaning off Mirapex.....what a nightmare! Last night was my first night with not taking any. I have very

Dopamine wake-up call anyone?
I’m a PD warrior on C/L who can sleep fine as long as the l-dopa is where it needs to be. That means a dose before bed and then 3- 4 hours later a “wake-up” call for another dose. Yes, I just wake up just like that, and if I wait long enough RLS will kick in. A dose then will get me down for the rest

Dr Winkleman feels strongly that most doctors do not understand RLS or Augmentation and the biggest challenge is to educate doctors and neurologists who prescribed
dopamine
agonists and increase the dose, which he equates to pouring gasoline on a fire.

What happens then is the medicine causes so much
dopamine
to be created that the brain cannot use it all. This excess

The journey of Levodopa inside the intestine.
In his blog of 9 February "BAC for the future", Simon of Science of Parkinson's remembers that Levodopa is converted into
Dopamine
by an enzyme called Decarboxylase DOPA.

Medical Alert Card for RLS
It contains a list of meds that worsen RLS (including
Dopamine
Agonists) and lists safe alternatives. I’ve attached photo below as it’s a great tool. I think our UK help forum is much easier to use and more helpful but I do like the USA alert card!

Ginkgo Biloba for RLS
I bought Ginkgo because I obviously have low
dopamine
which is associated with sleep problems and general not-well being. And because of sleepless nights I have to use a lot of stimulation during daytime to work effectively.
