Exercise & PD
I.e. are there cases of DAT scans showing an improvement in
dopamine
? Have they actually had PD in the first place? Does it mean they improve on non-motor symptoms? Some take less medication due to exercise - so
dopamine
must increase naturally to enable function?

need new neurologist
I’ve been put on all the old
dopamine
drugs in the past which all resulted in augmentation. Going through 3 neurologists, I finally had found a neurologist that knew what he was talking about. For a long time I was able to control my RLS with CBD/THC combo, until it didn’t.

Dopamine Agonist Withdrawal Syndrome (DAWS)
https://dc.etsu.edu/asrf/2024/schedule/123/ A case report of DAWS presenting as confusion, emotional liability and headache. Most of us who have been through withdrawal from Ropinirole, Pramipexole and Neupro recognise these symptoms, but hopefully, this article and others will help doctors to understand

Impulse Control Disorder on Dopamine Agonists. TV Drama Mr Bates v The Post Office
Research studies show that up to 38% of patients taking
dopamine
agonists are affected by ICD, and rates are probably much higher because doctors and patients do not make the link between out of character gambling/spending/sexual behaviour and
dopamine
agonists.

Links between TSH and RLS. Have I found my cause in sub clinical hypothyroidism due to autoimmune disease Hashimoto syndrome?
Over the last 3 years my RLS has worsened in step with my rising TSH levels which according to some research I've read is expected as TSH has a negative effect on
dopamine
receptors. It's a
dopamine
antagonist. So I'm thinking if I can find meds to lower my TSH then that may help my RLS.

Augmented, now a drug holiday
and it is time for detox from all
dopamine
agonists. Scared to go through this, but know that it's necessary. What did you all do to help with this process? Dr. tells me to expect 7-10 days with little to no sleep. Ugh!

Free of Dopamine Agonist But ...
Today, with the help of Buprenorphine, I am about 6 weeks free of Neupro. It is no exaggeration to say that I have not slept consistently this well for 30 years. It is absolutely a miracle. I could not be more thankful for the help I have received here that has gotten me to this place. However, there

Patients with Parkinson’s disease (PD) report a strong craving for sweets

Consuming food with a high-sugar content is assumed to lead to an increase in insulin concentration, which could positively influence
concentration in the brain and unconsciously be used by patients as kind of “self-medication” to compensate for a lack of
dopamine

in PD.

Vibration therapy
The vibration training almost completely prevented the MPTP-induced loss of
dopamine
neurons in the substantia nigra and upregulated BDNF.
This is an important result, since it suggests that WBV could act upon the primary cause of PD.

Have any one heard or tried L-Tyrosine ?
My son bought L-Tyrosine for me, and said it helps PD by research, it can help you make
dopamine
. It is a kind of Amino Acid. My doctor said that you can try it, but, should not take it with levodopa the same time, should take it apart from levodopa. Has someone tried it ?

Trying to unmask
Definitely chased
dopamine
through alcohol and drugs for most of my 20 and teens. As I got older I found it much easier to mask myself than take the rejection of not being everyone's cup if tea. I think I id such a good job that now at 33 I don't really know myself atoll.

Dr Berkowski Article on Dopamine Agonists Oct '23.
https://www.calameo.com/sleeplabmagazine/books/006372046fb2b80cd3776 Dr Berkowski is one of the top US experts on RLS and he firmly believes
dopamine
agonists cause permanent damage to
dopamine
receptors. This means pregabalin and gabapentin often don't work for us, nor do iron infusions.

Pramipexole withdrawals (Dopamine Agonist Withdrawal)
My dr was using Pram off label for depression hoping it would increase
dopamine
and help things out. No such luck. Now I am so messed up trying to get off it. Anyone have horrible mental issues while tapering?
