New and feeling sorry for myself
Hi I'm Fiona, age39 had chronic back pain for over 12 years now, had surgery 10 years ago for a partial
discectomy
, the disc just rotted away, the surgery left me with sciatica and some swelling in my foot/ankle walking is hard.

Post op help
I had my long awaited L5/S1
discectomy
nearly 2 weeks ago and I am sadly still getting nerve pain down my leg to my toes. It's not as bad as it was before .... But it's more than noticeably there.

Fibromyalga diagnosis
I went to my Doctor who said I had depression and pain was from my C6/C7
discectomy
and fusion operation ( 6 years ago) although the pains where in different places (depending on weather ) I woke up every morning feeling I had not slept.

Discectomy Feedback (excuse the pun) Please :-)
I have finally received a date for my
Discectomy
(2rd March) and wondered if I could get any feedback from anyone who has previously had this done - Eg. The pain to expect, outcome, exercise, how long will it take to feel the benefits - anything!

Having a back operation in December
My only downer at the minute is that I have to go for a
discectomy
at the beginning of December. I have suffered from a bulging disc for years now which has usually given me intermittent problems which has been sorted out by taking boswellic acid.

Straw poll and any comments please re surgery.
I'm on the very fringes of accepting surgery having dithered about for months - double
discectomy
with fixation, to my cervical spine (neck), but I have reservations, mostly to do with sheer terror. And also, if I overcome all the reservations, will it be worth it !

Does anyone know the estimated waiting time between having your pre-op assessment and your operation??
I am waiting to have a
discectomy
and a spinal decompression. I had my pre-op assessment on the 2nd September but I can't seem to find out approx how long it will be before my operation. Does anyone know any information or where I might be able to find out??

W4R1 premature blogulisation :)
She had a
discectomy
just over a year ago so I think a visit to the docs is in order just to get checked over. very proud of her though, she carried on and finished regardless.

Spinal fusion????
HI i had a 70% L4/L5
discectomy
5 years ago and was told i would more than likely need a fusion in time, well that may be now as MRI shows problem with remaining disc and a trapped nerve that is causing constant pain any way i'm enquiring if any one else has gone through this and how the fibro is affected
