Dialysis @ 80 years old after kidney removal...
He was up for it until the
dialysis
nurse came round yesterday and explained the process should he require it. 3 times a week to the hospital for half a day. She said at his age he could maybe expect to live another 1 to two years with
dialysis
and he'd feel poorly etc.

Renal Osteodystrophy and weight loss with loss of muscle mass
Please, is there anyone who have had a kidney transplant but after a long time on
dialysis
been diagnosed with Osteodystrophy (rugger jersey spine) and now having issues with loosing weight and muscle mass? Only this is happening to me and would like to know what would possibly cause this?

Anxious about going to the doctor
Updates are that my mom is doing well and breast cancer has not come back in a year :) she is still in
dialysis
, but overall doing well! I have been quite anxious lately regarding myself now. A few months ago I got this small rash on my areola.

Blowout!!!!
Hi guys My husband just had his first
dialysis
and his vein blew twice. It’s now very sore and swollen . My question is will they be able to do the next one, due tomorrow when his arm is in such a state or will they wait a few weeks ? Would welcome your advice 😊

Tired
Like many of you I’m sure, but just speaking for myself, I am so incredibly tired of
dialysis
and kidney disease. I try to just get through a day at a time but it just seems like an endless bad dream ! I still work but have reached a point where I am to tired to do much else.

I’m really scared
Two weeks ago I had a permacath out in for
dialysis
,( my left kidney isn’t working) the permacath site got infected and it was taken out. Now they will place a temporary one during surgery. I just wanna say, I’m scared out if my skin.

Dialysis about to start
I was just told by nephrologist about a week ago that he wanted me to start
dialysis
. I have no idea what to expect. I still feel fine and have no symptoms other than being a little more tired than usual.

5 THINGS YOUR NEPHROLOGIST WANTS YOU TO KNOW
I'm still learning and doing research and if/when the day comes and I need to make a choice on further treatment
dialysis
, transplant, etc. I continued to do the research on the various modalities of
dialysis
. It's never too early or late to have this conversation with your nephrologist.

What are the risks of a type 1 diabetes going into dialysis?
I was wondering if it reduces your life expectancy significantly to go on
dialysis
when you have type 1 diabetes vs not having diabetes

Dialysis with type 1 diabetes: what does it mean for life expectancy?
I was wondering what it will mean for a family member who will start
dialysis
and has type 1 diabetes. Is life expectancy significantly shorter for him than for people without diabetes?

I have a few numbers now to call gotten from
dialysis

Just had the operation for a fistula what’s the earliest you can start using it for dialysis
Hi I had my fistula operation 3 weeks ago and just had my blood results back and my GFR is now down to 6, I have an appointment with my consultant next week but wanted to ask what is the earliest you can start using a fistula, I know it normally takes 6-8 weeks to mature. I am worried that I won’t last

Cystinosis and Fanconi syndrome
Cystinosis and Fanconi syndrome I was diagnosed when I was around 2 years old,. basically the cystine cells attack the vital organs (in my case the kidneys and the thorax) I was on
dialysis
for 12 years before receiving a transplant last year.
