PD Dialysis - Week 5 day 1 - training begins
So today, I drove to the Fresenius
dialysis
clinic for my first day of PD training. Last Wednesday, since my training had been put off a week waiting for Baxter supplies to come in, my PD nurse had given me an iPod with the PD training modules pre-loaded.

Scared, confused
How does
dialysis
affect COPD? I am confused about the GFR numbers and the need for
dialysis
. My doctor keeps saying at GFR of 15 you need to go on
dialysis
. But here I see people with numbers as low 8, 6, 0r 2 just starting. Any help would be appreciated.

UFR increase during Dialysis Treatment
Can I ask any suggestion that during my
dialysis
, after a while they (the nurse or technician) always increase the UFR, and I figure out will be higher than the CMS guideline 13/ml/kg/hr, sometimes even 18/ml/kg/hr.

QUEENing like a G
I know I'm not doing
dialysis
now, but it is probably in my future and until then I'm just going to go hard. But even after then I'm going to go hard as I can. Now I will take breaks when I need to. I know the value of rest.

PD Dialysis - Week 4 day 3 - approved for shower!
So, since my official PD training got put off till next week, my PD nurse had me come in today for another dressing change and "flush" of my pd catheter. She did not do the "sterile" setup for this, just the "clean" set up that included the extreme hand washing techniques and she did use clean gloves

PHYTATE (IP-6) may have therapeutic potential in BCP crystal-associated musculoskeletal syndromes. [Might reduce bone spurs?]
Patients with renal disease are often on low phytate diets and levels are further reduced by
dialysis
. Phytate supplementation has been shown to decelerate vascular calcification in aging rats. Low levels may correlate with valvular calcification in elderly humans.

PD Dialysis - Week Four Day Two Baxter site issue
So my PD nurse set me up an account with Baxter, the company who will supply my cycler (Amia) and the PD solutions and other stuff. Baxter sent me an email with my account username and asked me to create a password and a security question. I did all that, then was taken to the page shown in the first

Pressure along diaphragm
Hi guys, I just have a quick question for those of you who are getting low on your GFR like myself (12gfr) not on
dialysis
, have you ever experienced a sense of pressure in your abdominal area just below your diaphragm?

Difficulties of living with CKD 5 in África (Mozambique)
Currently I’m not doing any medical treatment for the kidney disease and they don’t know the reason for this disease and they keep delaying the start of the
dialysis
stating that “Im young to start this treatment”… In future if I get better, or while I’m still able to do some programming I will try

Prepared Meals for ESKD (Stage 5) renal dialysis patients
Recommendations for prepared meals
(shipped to home or available frozen in a store) for Stage 5 renal
dialysis
patients? Or alternatives? Living in Wash., DC area. (Meal Pro looks looks great, has lots of chicken and fish on the menu, and is prepared by a renal dietician.

How long before feeling the benefits of Dialysis?
My husband recently started
dialysis
. His GFR was in the range of 6-9. He's also anemic. He's 62 and his uncontrolled diabetes is the reason for his CKD. His A1C is in the normal range now, but the damage is done. Today will be his 8th
dialysis
session. So far he isn't feeling better.
