The Elephant in the Noisy Room
Joe recently told some of his close friends that he is going to start
dialysis
soon. According to Dave, "he just had surgery to stick a plastic tube in his stomach". I'm guessing that means he's going to be receiving some form of Peritoneal

Dialysis fear.
Personally, at 59 on
dialysis
for 7 months, I would rather have dislysis thsn another kidney. Someone younger may feel different. Come to term with the fact that your life will require diffrent management but can still be very meaningful.

Seriously questioning my doctor, need your advice!
Mind you she is the head of a
dialysis
center and a nephrologist. Yikes! She suggested I call Davita. Davita told me they could not help me or refer me to an RD. I have found several online but found i need a referral if i want insurance to cover it.

Gfr of 10 but feeling well - is this possible ?
He wants to delay
dialysis
as long as possible as he is starting his first full time job next week since graduating University in July. He is very worried his new employers may retract the job offer when they learn he has to do
dialysis
and ultimately need a transplant in the next few months.

THE ONE THING....If you could give up one piece of advice on CKD, Dialysis, and Transplant--what would it be?
Okay--I am going to be the first suggestion here. My one and most important tip would be to WRITE IT DOWN. Keeping an accurate log of doctor appointments, questions for your care team, and what responses they give you is a must. Not only will it give you good order in your treatment/care, this gives

Dad type O- : Type 1 Diabetic
He recently is reaching closer to having to be on
Dialysis
. Watching a family member suffer through the disease of Diabetes is bad enough, but when you can't help its gut wrenching. My mom is in the process of the match pair program to donate her kidney so my dad can get a kidney at the same time.

Healing me softly & hardly a bit!
I just need wisdom to get by because thinking about what I'm gonna get through every
dialysis
weakens me. I wanna quit & give up. It's not like walk in the park. I still believe there's hope for people like me. I just started going outside yesterday to do some grocery shopping.

Waking up from Induced come (with a trach) - seeking for advise and hopefully some encouragement....
(A brief summary: My mom, 68 years old, has been in an induced coma for 9 days (following an in-hospital cardiac arrest, and lung issues. at some point her kidneys stopped working and she got a
dialysis
but they are working again now - though with a urinating medicine.

Trouble adjusting.
Between
dialysis
and doctors appointments I can't stop long enough to gather my thoughts. I considered skipping the
dialysis
route and just receive palliative care. My parents are the best so they were a major factor in me dialyzing. I was also scared I might end up in hell.

Fluid overload
From time to time I suffer from really bad fluid overload who's is usually controlled with 240mg of furosemide and fluid restriction of 750mls which I stick to , which is hard but I am really strict as really want to delay
dialysis
. I have a fistula and ready to go and my renal function is 7.5%.

Dialysis Humour
My mother has started on
dialysis
recently. The who journey has been overwhelming for us. I started doodling some of her experiences, to bring about the lighter side of all this. Sharing one below.

Kidney transplant update
I am lucky that I'm not on
dialysis
at the moment. I suffer from eplilpcy and I do weekly infusions called hizentra. I received my transplant from my mother 13 years ago June 2005. I was diagnosed with p Anca vasculitis as the disease that caused my kidneys to both go.
