Bitter Melon and Diabetes
Bitter Melon’s powerful insulin lowering properties are currently being looked at as an effective treatment for Diabetes. Studies suggest that Bitter Melon may play a role in controlling the production of insulin by the body, thus promoting blood sugar control. The hypoglycemic effect is more pronounced

Glucose and Cortisol Blood test interpretation help needed please!
Hello, I am a patient of Dr Gordon Skinner and as most of you know he has passed away. Apart from being absolutely devastated about his untimely demise, I am now struggling to find anyone who may treat me as he did...symptoms first rather than lab results! I know that many of you on here are as good

Antibodies in autoimmune thyroiditis affect glucose metabolism of anterior cingulate
One of the mysteries of autoimmune thyroid disease is that we know little of the actual effects of thyroid antibodies - in this case, Thyroglobulin antibodies (TGab). This paper reveals an observation that those with TGab have objectively measurable differences to others. Maybe at last it will cease

Hypothyroidism and hypoglycaemia
I have had hypothyroidism for over 22 years and currently taking 200mg Levo. Lately I have not been well with typical underactive thyroid symptoms and had my blood checked. TSH is 0.41 so my GP has agreed to further blood tests, checking levels for vitamins B12 and D, ESR, full blood count, random glucose

Insulin & Weightloss
Insulin & Weightloss – the pivotal factor Insulin is one of several hormones that are produced by the pancreas. Although insulin is often thought of as simply controlling blood sugar levels, it actually has far reaching effects on many other hormones and metabolic processes throughout your body.

Do normal results from a coeliac/autoimmune profile appear on a blood test report?
I have had 5 phials of my blood taken during my last blood test to be tested for folate, ferritin, vitamin d, vitamin b12, TSH, FT4, plasma viscosity, glucose and Anti TPO antibodies, which have come back, however 2 other tests, namely an autoimmune profile and coeliac profile which were also ordered

Hypothyroidism and depression: salient aspects of pathogenesis and management
This paper makes me ask: How many anti-depressants are you expected to try (and many of them are acknowledged to make things worse to begin with, and require weeks to ramp up and then tail off) before you might, if very lucky, get the chance to try liothyronine (T3)? (And given current GP/endo attitudes

has anybody been offered medication for impaired glucose tolerance?
I recently visited my GP to discuss several awful reactions to food I have had over the last 3 months and the increasing amount of food I am unable to tolerate. Initially I was (I think) diagnosed as NCGS but given the episodes over the last few months and me becoming very sensitive to particular foods

Hi all, I'm new to this, so i apologies now for anything that i may repeat that someone else has said... I'm going to do a bit of a rant, so please excuse me, I'm just so fed up. My colon was removed 7 years ago for IBS, chronic constipation as well. Since then I now have allergies, I'm allergic to
