Sugar!
We eat too much sugar. The recommended amount of free sugars in our diet has been halved from 10% of the calories we eat to 5% or less. For adults that means no more than 30g of free sugar a day or the equivalent of seven sugar cubes. -- What do they mean by ‘free’ sugars? Normally, we like things

Fasting Part 3
I hope by now given you an insight into the reasons we get fat and T2 diabetic. Fasting and LCHF is a vastly complex or really simple depending whether you want the science or just want results. Out of necessity I have simplified the process, but this is enough of an outline to shift perspective and

I don't understand!!'
Isn't there any other way to help my heart pslpitations!?? They increased my propranolol as I had an episode of high blood pressure and tachycardia. Turns out that medication increases triglycerides (mine are already high) as well as fasting glucose. I don't know what to do anymore am at a loss 😥

Nerve pain an issue?
I've just been diagnosed as a diabetic, and have nerve pains 24/7. My GP has insisted it is Fibromyalgia, which I have (also Lupus). Together with my very high glucose readings, the hospital took it out of her hands. Do you have nerve pains? I get muscle pains which I believe is the Fiibto which I believe

Glucose Level Variations
I have been type 2 for 14 years and over the last year I have found that my after breakfast readings vary inexplicably. If my pre-breakfast reading is around 6.0 it jumps o 13 or 14, if my early reading is about 7.5 it only goes to 9.5 approx. For the last 6 mths I have eaten the same breakfast and

Fasting Part 2.
Before continuing on the insulin theme I think I should expand on the dangers of fasting. Here’s a snippet of an article I just pulled from Google: “After 72 hours: Muscle wasting begins. In an effort to save the brain, the body starts to dissolve itself, turning muscles into glucose. Other serious

How does one bring up Vitamin D levels when deficient?
A Little off the thyroid subject but my husband got some tests back the other day (he did private at my urging) I am concerned and trying to sort out. He is deficient in Vit D 15.4 (30-100), B12 387 (211-911) and his glucose levels have been creeping up over the last few years and are now 116 (73-99

Update and managing (?) tests
Saw my lovely GP this morning. Thankfully this time she did not try to arm twist me into taking osteoporosis medication. I asked about the inflammatory markers, and she dismissed that request by saying they don't really pay attention to them, treatment is based on the symptoms. So I still don't know

Type 2 Diabetes
I was recently diagnosed with type 2 diabetes with a 6.7 A1C. I've been pre-diabetic for years. My primary doctor recommended medicine right away. I said I would prefer to use diet and exercise. She gave me a diabetic testing kit and ordered needles and strips and told me to take my glucose once a

a-Syn misfolding blockers/repairers (updated)
This is an update of a previous post. The number of compounds that help in the test tube or mice is overwhelming. Unfortunately, there is not a standard test to determine which ones reach the human brain and work the best. It's not possible to take all of them. But the long list gives hope: there

Here goes a long story. I had a limp inh neck for around w years before I eventually convinced doc to remove it, turned out to be thyroid cancer. I was 26. Treating the root cause(s)
It's been a few weeks since my last post, but I wanted to bring everyone up to date on my current status. After a plethora of tests, and doctors, I decided to take matters into my hands. I had the lab run all of my tests again, and I took aim at resolving the various areas that I felt were in my control

PD and diabetes
My husband will be starting dialysis in the near future. We spoke to the dialysis nurse about the choices and think PD will suit him better. However we were concerned that the fluid contains glucose and wondered how people had found their blood sugars since using PD . is diabetes still manageable?
