Switching from Gabapentin to Horizant?
I'm currently taking 2400mg of Gabapentin, for my PLMs, and gradually reducing..my plan is to switch to Horizant/Gabapentin enacarbil. Does anyone know how much Gabapentin I need to be taking, in order to switch to 600mg of Horizant? I'm looking for a website that will give me this specific info

In defence of meds!
As part of my pre-
DBS
suitability trial, I had to have no Madopar for 16 hours. The discomfort of life denied Levadopa is hard to describe: I became totally rigid and severe dystonia was expressed in my neck, back, feet and this graduated to eye lids clenching and teeth grinding.

chatGPT's opinion on PD - Simple and wise
For example, deep brain stimulation (
DBS
) involves implanting electrodes into specific areas of the brain to help regulate movement.

Personal Sleep PR
This is the first time I have passed 8 hours of sleep in the almost 8 years of keeping track. I usually score 80 or 81. 89 is an all time record for me. So what happened. First off, I could feel my RLS earlier in the evening. Little things were beginning to trigger my RLS, nothing strong but

Guidance for RLS
Hi Everyone, I'm new to this forum and am so glad to have found you. I have suffered with RLS for years, and in the past year, it's become pretty severe. I get VERY little sleep. Currently, I'm taking Gabapentin and Magnesium Glycinate, but neither are helping--yet. I did take Carbidopa-Levodopa for

PREPARING FOR DBS SURGERY. VERY WORRIED ABOUT THE INEVITABLE SIDE EFFECTS.
Hi every Parkies on this forum. If you are a PIGD non tremor dominant, young onset PD person, and have done Deep brain stimulation, please respond to my questions, How was your experience with the Neuropsychologist? What was the computer test like? Please share the negatives, if any post surgery.

Continuous Electrical Neuromodulation of the Globus Pallidus Intern in Parkinson's Disease by the Directional Electrode
https://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT05626608 The hypothesis is that the efficacy of
DBS
in directional mode will be more effective on the motor signs of Parkinson's disease compared to omnidirectional stimulation and bipolar mode, with a better tolerance profile (fewer side effects).

All MDD Patients There Is HOPE: Watch this
I have been through it all with MDD. I can relate to every post in here. I was treatment resistant for a decade. I got Deep brain stimulation surgery last year and am in remission from depression. I would guess it’s FDA approved within a couple of years. The options now if nothing works is to suffer

Catastrophic Reactive Tinnitus and Severe Hyperacusis - My Experience
My sound tolerance must be around 25-30
dbs
now, it is very poor, it has kept getting lower each time I've received a setback. I'm going to try a few more things such as try and get my CAT scan images of my head and send them to various doctors.

Treatment Resistant Major Depressive Disorder: I am proof that there is hope.
DBS
is FDA approved for multiple conditions such as epilepsy and Parkinson’s. The surgical procedure is tried and true. It’s not new. The scientists have been spending decades trying to figure out specifically in the brain where the electrodes need to be placed to help with MDD.

Focused Ultrasound Trial Finds Promise for Parkinson’s Patients

Thirty-nine participants who received the procedure continued to see significant benefits three months later, and 30 of those assessed at the one-year mark continued to see benefits. The procedure

According to the following article Comparing the youngest age people to the oldest, the number of striatal dopamine transporters was cut by 46%, or 6.6% per decade of life.3 The rate of loss of dopamine transporters is accelerated in Parkinson's patients, and this age-related factor may suggest why

Vagal Nerve Stimulation (tVNS) Research Summary
Deep Brain Stimulation (
DBS
) is a form of neuromodulation. Neuromodulation can be invasive, requiring surgery (like
DBS
) or noninvasive which provides the stimulation on the surface of the skin. Thus noninvasive neuromodulation does not require surgery.

Health update
I will most likely going to have
DBS
surgery. If this helps, as your Neurologist about this. If they give you crap for this idea, ask them to read my post. And let them read it.

long-term effects of deepbrainstimulation on brain activity
Researchers led by KBI_UHN Drs. Robert Chen and Ghazaleh Darmani shed light on the long-term effects of #deepbrainstimulation on brain activity in people with #parkinsondisease, laying the groundwork for improved therapies The team discovered that deep brain stimulation increased aperiodic beta activity
