Onset/diagnosis after years
Treatment with levodopa had short-lived effects so doctors decided to use
DBS
therapy.
DBS
did not have the desired effect; my aunt has electrodes in her brain that stimulate dopamine production.

Weird leg pain
Hi everyone, I'm hoping someone can shed some light on this weird symptom! For almost 10 years now I have had pain in my outer calf about two inches up from my ankle on both sides. It comes on with the slightest exertion but is not there all the time. The achy pain builds and builds until I feel like

Horizant
Hi everyone and Sue Johnson. I'm wondering if Horizant is the same as Pregabalin? I guess it is a stronger version of gabapentin. I have tried it and it seems to work pretty good for me.

DBS and Sinemet
I had the
DBS
surgery last October. After
DBS
, Sinemet made my PD symptoms worse...especially balance (It's like I am constantly falling forward and my legs are trying to keep up). I told my neurologist about it and she thought is odd that Sinemet would do that.

medication timing???
I am now almost 4 weeks free of Pramipexole 😀 I feel like I am over the worst ( back from hell) but I’m now religiously waking at 11pm then again at 12pm (and sometimes at 1am) with RLS. I have a 10 minute walk around the house and this does ease my pain. I am slowly increasing my Gabapentin dose and

Turns out it was because of the meds 😢 she was ok at the beginning but after having severe muscle pains 2 years after she decided to undergo “deep brain stimulation (
DBS
)” operation, which in hindsight, was a decision made in rush.

She does not want
DBS
. There is so much to say but I do not have ability or strength to go on right now maybe I will update later. I have no one to ask to make her understand and think rationally.

What is an ICM?
An Insertable Cardiac Monitor (ICM) is a small thin device that is inserted under the skin on your breastbone to record the activity of your heart. It can remain in place for up to 3 years. The device will capture and record 'episodes'. The recorded data will be collated and assessed and help to diagnose

DBS surgery to help with “ frozen feet “
I have switched exercise workouts to a stationary bicycle, PT therapy 3 times a day, Rock Steady Boxing and now I am thinking about
DBS
surgery, so will
DBS
have a effect on my “ frozen feet “ ? I understand focused ultrasound does not help with this, thx

Conundrum Gastrin
Hi everyone, does anyone have advice when trying to increase weight when diagnosed with Intestinal Metaplasia and Hyperplasia. I have been doing some research regarding the damage that Gastrin can do when it doesn't switch off (NET's tumours) because of low stomach acid and as the Gastrin is activated

Fenofibrates
Someone asked if Dr. Jones' book mentioned the use of fenofibrates.... yes, it does in several places. This might be a good book to have if you are considering using them. He is the leading expert on PBC. Hope it helps... The subject is discussed in the chapter for 'Treatment of PBC'. Many have been

CAPSULOTOMY + OTHER OPTIONS
After that, I've been reading a lot of scientific literature dealing with various methods used to treat severe OCD: my operation + TMS, rTMS, ECT, MrgFUS,
DBS
. I just liked to write here this short message in order to have some discussion on this subject.

Should we worry?
mum is on large doses of lactulose and diuretics and has been feeling very unwell all day. She hasn’t been able to open her Bowles at all, and seems very confused. is this an A&E job?

pre-DBS Assessment advice please
Got the invitation from Bristol for the pre-
DBS
assessment at the end of July. I’m very apprehensive as I know that a key feature is the withdrawal of CL for an extended period. The thought of this freaks me out.
