swelling around DBS battery 5 weeks after surgery
It’s been 5 weeks since my battery placement surgery and when I woke up this morning my battery site is puffy. The incision has healed and looks fine. No redness or fever either. I’m not sure what caused this. I called my surgeon and sent pictures and they are going to see me Monday morning. But they

Hi everyone. Here’s how it looks after a week. I look a bit startled in this don’t I ? Probably astonished that the sun is shining in the U.K.

DBS lead placement options.
Morning all. I had a zoom meeting with my neurosurgeon the other day. I’m pretty sure that she stated she was going for the STN as the site for leads. In my typical blokey way I just nodded along accepted whatever she said. But reading up on lead placing, I’m getting the distinct impression that for

DBS levadopa challenge. Glad its over, but it does raise a question.
The question that came to mind was if the
DBS
once fitted, for some reason stopped working. What would happen if i was driving and im suddenly dropped straight into the horrible state i was at this morning or worse? Has anyone had experience of
DBS
failure?

There is a clear description of the different

Experience with tapering Neupro, Dopamine Agonists, and managing DAWS
My current neurologist is experienced in tapering off medications, unlike my previous neurologist, who was opposed to the idea and recommended
DBS
(which I will never consider).

My HWP, diagnosed 30 years ago,
DBS
18 years ago, has been going through a very difficult period with his PD for the past 3 months. His knees keep collapsing and his 'offs' have become very bad. I am having to lift him from his falls and helping him get out of his chair, bed etc.

Personal insights into late stage PD thoughts
I have declined brain surgery both
DBS
and FUS, heart surgery, dozens of medications with enormous potential side effects, sterile white hospitals, respirators and push button help lanyards around my neck while at home.
