Signed off from haematologist today.
I went to see the haematologist I was originally referred to for anaemia back in February. It was she who recognised the spider naevie and felt my enlarged liver. She referred me for a liver scan and a gastroscopy and colonoscopy which confirmed the diagnosis of cirrhosis. She said that I should still

Iron/Ferritin levels
Hi, I was diagnosed with PA earlier on this year. I received my loading doses in May and I'm having a top up injection of B12 every 3 months. Unfortunately, my iron levels are now low. My ferritin level is 5, my iron level is 9 and my saturation level is 11%. My haemoglobin level is normal so my GP

Blood test results
Had my levels checked again. Still feeling awful. My serum ferritin is 31 ug/L the range is 23-300. My gp has advised to take one iron tablet a day. Not sure why there is a exclamation mark next to the red blood cell count.

Statin
The doctor wants My LDL cholesterol to be lower and has put me on a statin drug. He will test my liver enzymes after 30 days. Have any of you with PBC experienced elevated liver enzymes from statins?

Iron panel - serum iron. How to get this checked when GP won't!
I am reliably informed (by SeasideSusie - thanks Susie😊) that it would be wise to get my serum iron tested before supplementing further with ferrous fumurate. My doctor has already told me I am not anaemic and, after seeing my numbers, Susie agrees, although my ferritin is low in range. Another GP at

Deep brain stimulation first therapy to slow the progression of Parkinson's disease
“DBS is the first therapy to show disease-modifying effect—it can actually slow down cardinal features of Parkinson’s. There has been no therapy, drug, or device that has ever been able to do that,” said Dr. Konrad. https://www.mdlinx.com/neurology/top-medical-news/article/index.cfm/ZZ52FEC8C385D94C8EA0767FCBC5BA4391

Blood pressure drop
Hi all After about five months of injecting every other day, my B12 level tested at 4694 (180-914). My doctor has decreased my B12 to twice a month. I have decreased to every four days on one occasion. I had an iron level of 44 (50-170) and Iron Saturation of 13% (20-55 %), Ferritin 16 (8-252). I had

Hypothyroid - How to best supplement with iron
I am a hypothyroid 35 year old male, 72 kg 6 ft living in New Zealand and I currently take T3 only medication (looking to switch back to NDT though). My Iron panel shows sub-optimal values. As it is my last mineral to get right in order for thyroid medication to work, I would like to get advice on good

Sudden Downturn
My spouse has the DBS in oct 2016. The past 6 months, he’s been falling daily. Forgetting, occasionally leaving stove on... Finally, the doctor convinced him to get a walker. We’re also testing him to see if he can drive. I upped his devices to 3.7voltz a month ago but the dr put them at 4.0 yesterday

Iron Panel Question
I had my iron checked 3 months ago. At the time I took small dose Thorne’s iron supplements for a couple weeks but discontinued because of constipation. Not sure if it helped or not but I’m curious about the lab results I had. I’m a 28 year old male. Ferritin 91 (24-444) Serum Iron 13.2 (10.6-33.8

Medicare won't pay for serum ferritin or iron saturation tests.
Since I have had a diagnosis of RSL, I have had several serum ferritin/iron saturation tests done by various physicians. The last time I went to local hospital for lab tests, Medicare refused payment for these tests and I paid out of pocket. I went again today (different doctor) for same tests and

Why did my IGHV test not run
Hello, disappointed today, my IGHV test did not run, having little sleep last night thinking about the results. So now they will do the test again. However I am anemic, now given iron tablets from my hospital. My white blood cells have almost doubled in 8 weeks. Go back for the full results just before

Finally getting answers thanks to you
I am about to cry!! I posted on here two Months ago about still being tired after 7 years. A few of you told me to ask for a folate test. This led to my Doctor to finding out that I am still anemic even though the “usual” tests they run say I am not!! Mchc, hematocric, hemoglobin, protein and calcium
