Steroids
I’ve almost been on prednisolone for 4 years now. Am desperate to get off prednisolone, so really happy to hear am slowly been reduced over the next 6 months to hopefully nothing. But also a bit scared as my body’s ability to create steroids has been affected due to how long I’ve been on them and such

Prednisone increases Blood my pressure
I get anxious and excitable when I am on it. I am a 65 year old male. I also retain water and have increased appetite. When taking Prednizone, the PMR pain is less but the side effects are just not worth it. Haven't taken Prednizone in over a week, BP is normal and I am much more relaxed. I am going

Hurting Knees
I have been having lots of knee pain, mainly when I go from either standing to sitting, or vice versa. I was considering a cortisone shot. Any have any knowledge or has had one, and willing to share their experience?

Cold, Allergy or non-allergic rhinitis?
How do you tell whether an attack is a cold starting, an allergy attack or non-allergic rhinitis from some other trigger? I had a bad sneezing fit totally out of the blue a few days ago; went on dripping all night. OK the next day, then similar attack next evening. Mild headache. Pollens are very early

Cortisone, local anaesthetic and PV
Hi Guys, I received cortisone jabs with local anaesthetic last Thursday and Friday into my wrist and hip to combat inflammation due to osteoarthritis. I normally do react with a raised temp, flushed face, sweats and pain at the site of the injection. However, almost a week later my temp is like a yo-yo

Sudden extremely itchy red swollen hands
Hello. I have been experiencing the sudden onset of extreme itchy hands. Both hands go red and swell within minutes, but the itch is extreme. It only happens once every few weeks and does not seem to be associated with touching anything as each time I’m doing something different. It’s not hives. I

Sub Optimal cortisone levels
Looking for some advice please. I hav Ebert taking prednisone for 2 years for PMR. I successfully tapered down slowly to the 5 mg that I am on now. Two synacthen tests have shown that I have sub optimal cortisone levels. I was prescribed hydrocortisone to replace the prednisone but put myself back on

Mepolizumab update
8 injections down and feeling great! Hoping to be off the pred(1mg/day) in a fortnight but have had to reduce slowly to ensure I’m able to make my own cortisone. Would be interested to see how others have done on this new treatment and a very Happy and healthy New year all x

Pouch on Neck
Wow am I confused and overwhelmed! Have had PMR for 3 1/2 yrs. On Pred but when tapering down inflammation markers go back up. It was discovered that I have an Aortic Aneurysm by my cardiologist but said not to worry, it was small. My Rheumy saw that and thought maybe I have GCA. I have no other GCA

Newby Post
Hi all. Newby here. Name is Stefan, am 60 years old and have had HHD since 35 years of age. Originally GPs always treated me for fungal infections but work doctor sent me to a Demo and biopsy indicated HHD. Started with weak cortisone creams and over the years getting stronger cream and anti viral tablets

Itchiness without rash - could be caused by high eosinophils ?
Has anybody with eosinophilic asthma got extreme itchiness ( fingertips , legs ) without rash - antihistamines and cortisone creams don't seem to help . Just wonder if it's one of the symptoms of high eosinophils and I should start my prednisone rescue pack

Cortisone injection in the knee
Hello everyone, I don't post much but I read everything you write. You are a fountain of knowledge on PMR, I couldn't survive PMR without your advice. Here's my question, it's an odd one that my doctor just laughs off. I just don't know what to think and one of you might have an experience with this.

Secondary Addison’s
I wrote a post a couple of months regarding cortisone levels. I now understand what is going on. I have secondary Addison’s disease, I am now depending on hydrocortisone daily. 20mg is my daily dose but this needs adjusting if I’m ill, sick, stress etc. Since being diagnosed I’ve had one adrenal crisis
