Potter5 - Update after GP appointment - asking for thyroid treatment
Hello, and first can I say, thank you so much to everyone who replied to me. The information and help I was given here was invaluable at appointment today. As life would have it the locum who I was expecting to see was doing the baby clinic and the GP who I told seven weeks ago that I wasnt confident

PMR AND ITS ASSOCIATED AILMENTS
Just a thought on Piriformis Syndrome. I have been on Prednisone for 3 years for PMR (undiagnosed for 2 years before start of Prednisone). Symptoms of PMR alleviated almost immediately on start of Prednisone (20mg). However, I had a lingering pain in the right buttock not like all of the other symptoms

My gp gave me a cortisone injection in the base of my spine , I’ve since been told he shouldn’t have done it just in surgery is that right? Was he ok doing that ?

Shoulder impingement
I believe I have a shoulder impingement. When I sit with bad posture it flares up and I get pain in my rotator cuff as well as tingling in my arm. Any tips to treat that don’t involve surgery or cortisone shots?

Life, what's it all about??
Morning all, For years now I have devoted my life to my family! there have been some upsets along the way, "some self inflicted" and others well beyond my control or completely unforeseen, as some of you will be aware from my previous posts. I have only had three jobs in my working career which covers

When a 'side effect' is a BIG 'effect' ... more on tendons
Hello All I apologise in advance if this just sounds like a great big 'whinge' but I am feeling a wee bit fed up ! I wrote a post here recently about straining an Achilles tendon - and that (possibly) being a consequence of long term use of Prednisone. I know this can happen for other reasons but there

Cortisone wore off after 2 weeks?
I have inflammatory arthritis that my Rheumatologist says will eventually become RA. It's currently attacking my left knee, has been for months. I've been in PT since May and had a lot of improvement. I then had a cortisone injection at the beginning of July. The next 2 weeks were great. Then the pain

Horrible Heel Pain
Hi. I’m wondering if anyone has horrible heel pain. Rheumy says it’s Achilles tendinitis and no ideas. It’s been over s year now. Any ideas at all welcome. Seeing podiatrist next week but all they’ve ever offered is shots of cortisone into joints. No more thank you. Doesn’t help and HURTS! I’ve got

Happy Update 🌝
It seems I have responded well to cortisone injections in both shoulders and Xeljanz. For the first time in three years I am walking again. I am currently walking 5 miles a day minimum. I am still tired but getting it done. I quit smoking in May. So I am not sure if improvements are from drug or my body

Steroid injection for psa
Has anyone had a steroid injection in their buttock? Supposed to ease all joints. (Had cortisone ones before but they were injected into the actual joint) if you’ve had one has it been effective? Also were there any side effects?

At my wits end! Months of ill health and multiple and conflicting endo opinions.
I am writing to this amazing community for further guidance and help- it has been my saviour on several occasions before. Thank you again! My story is very long so apologies in advance, but suffice to say the biggest problems emerged 3.5 years ago when I was diagnosed with hypothyroidosm at 7 weeks

Follow up on haematologist appointment for sharp rise in lymphocytes.
Hello everybody hope you are all well, my visit to the haematologist today didn't go the way I was hoping, he says the sudden increase in my lymphocytes is caused by the CLL and not the cortisone, so I have to go back onto treatment, Bendamustine and Rituxan, it will take a couple of weeks to motivate

Sharp increase in my lymphocyte count.
Hello, I live in Port Elizabeth South Africa and was diagnosed with CLL in 2010, after a fish blood test I was found to have 13q and a good prognosis. My ALC and nodes and spleen increased over three years with the ALC doubling at times, eventually when my ALC reached over 100 and the nodes got very

Hopefully not an MS thing...
I've been having incredible hip pain. I went to a hip doctor who gave me a cortisone shot in the bursa and told me if the pain comes back, see a back doctor. The shot worked for 6 days. So I call the back doctor. Had to wait 2 weeks (Advil taken constantly). Saw the back doctor yesterday who told

Still have knee pain
My G P gave me an injection into my knee cap five days ago, this is for osteoarthritis. I was told it may be a couple of days before I felt less pain but my knee is really painful to touch still and it wakes me at night on turning over. Am I expecting too much and too soon? I would be grateful to hear

Update to shingles and stressful rheumy appointment
Thanks to everyone for your support and replies to my freaked out post! I think what I have are insect bites, maybe a spider? I’ve seen some in the house lately. Whatever it is, it’s getting better. No more spots have appeared and itching has gotten better. Treating them with alcohol,

rebound rash
hi there. I've only just joined so I apologise if this has been asked before. My daughter (4 yo) has just stopped using the mask inhaler. 3 days later she has developed a rash around her mouth, covering her nose and chin. I suspect some sort of steroid withdrawal, similar to long term hydro cortisone

Eliquis and Cortisone
I have afib and I am on Eliquis. After some life style changes to my diet and including daily walks and yoga I was able to reduce the afib episodes to only 2 last year that were treated with PIP. Unfortunately I injured my hip doing a yoga twist. That was 4 months ago. I have been in pain and have gone

Cortisone shot
Well, I lived through the dreaded cortisone shot in my bursa (hip) this morning. As the ortho doctor was leaning over my expose, naked backside I told him he was viewing my best side. Trying to make light of the ginormous needle he was about to stick into me!
