Slowing Things Down
I’m currently on 54 mg of
Concerta
, but it doesn’t seem to be doing a great job and I’m waiting to speak to my psychiatrist about changing. In the meantime, I’m looking for ways to slow down my brain so I can see the things that need to get done without the overwhelm.

Newly medicated, concerta, now Ritalin.
After a little bit of research I see Ritalin is also methylphenidate which has me wondering if it’s going to make me feel exactly the same way as
Concerta
?

Concerta XL starting side effects
My 15 year old daughter has commenced 18mg
concerta
4 days ago and is due to increase to 36mg after one week. We’re obviously not expecting to see any effect as yet but she is complaining of a constant heavy frontal headache. She isn’t complaining of nausea or a dry mouth.

Concerta, How do you know it’s working?
My son is on his 3rd week of
Concerta
. 18mg week 1, 36mg week 2 and now on 54mg. He is having trouble saying if it is having any positive effect. The first week he had a low level headache for a few days, which wore off.

Concerta XL and coca cola
My son who is 18 has just taken his first dose of
Concerta
today and his ‘prescriber’ who is titrating him, doesn’t seem to want to answer the question about Coca Cola. I know you are supposed to avoid caffeine, but would it be ok to have the odd coke in the evening 2 to 3 times a week?

LDN for ADHD when taking Concerta?
We were wondering whether LDN can be taken while also taking ADHD meds (in this case, she is on
Concerta
- slow release Methylphenidate). We were hoping that she might be able to slowly taper off the
Concerta
and use LDN in the meantime to help with the ADHD.

However, I was recently also diagnosed with severe adult ADHD, which I’m now taking medication for (methylphenidate /
Concerta
XL slow release).

short release vs fast release meds ??
I originally started on
concerta
on two different doses and felt that it made my anxiety so bad even after giving it an adjustment period, so I was switched to dexamfetamine aspen fast release with 2 x 5mg every 3 hours.

14 year old ADHD, online scamming/bitcoin
He sees a therapist for this (the same one from his addiction program) and is on
Concerta
, abilify and Sertraline. He seems flat on these meds, like no emotion or remorse. I am considering cutting back one of them. We have had numerous conversations with him.

ADHD meds might have made my son worse?
So then we tried
Concerta
with intuniv for sleep. My son never had issues with sleep but as soon as the meds came along he had sleep issues. He then gained a lot of weight so his self-esteem was shot and he became depressed. So we tried adding a mild anti depressant.

discouraged :(
they say “it doesn’t make any sense” and think the fact that i’m on medication is ridiculous because i have anxiety. so i guess the fact that my
concerta
is making me feel sad (sometimes even before the “crashes” kick in??)

Concerta sleep issues
We are trying the “liquid
concerta
” now at 10ml per day, but when that wears off around 3:00 he becomes enraged and defiant for the next few hours through bedtime.

ADHD/Impulse Control Help
Have tried a bunch of meds and landed on a combo of Straterra and
Concerta
that work well for his ADHD. However his impulse control has been non existent lately and hes being really hurtful and disrespectful. I am picking him up from daycare and receiving multiple incident reports.

Is it ADHD or Aspergers?
Since then we have had him on various dosages of
Concerta
to assist him with his concentration especially at school. We have found that the medication does help with his concentration and does take the "edge" off of his explosive behaviour.

Struggling with work/life balance
I’ve only tried vyvanse and adderal so I’m wondering if it’s worth giving
concerta
or something of that variation a try. Or if I should just stop trying to figure it all out and accept what is. Any advise or just commiseration is appreciated.

Meds only somewhat effective
Hi All, my son has been on
concerta
ER 18 mg and guanfacine 1mg for a few months now and we’ve seen some improvement in symptoms but he still struggles with emotional regulation.
