A long road to recovery...
Also palnning to go to quit smoking this weekend hoping I get prescribed
champix
as smoking brings me no pleasure anymore. One thing I find myself yearning for is a friend, I can't remember the last time I had the comfort of a true friend.

Stopping smoking
Have not smoked for 8 days I'm using
champix
which got from doctor, I am amazed how quick they worked and I have not had any cravings since taking them and it is really weird

Should I start taking the Champix now or wait a little longer?
I 'cheated' the pharmacy into giving me
champix
by blowing zero on the meter they use. I did this by using an e-cig and NRT for 72 hours prior to my consultation. I wanted to have the tablets in so I could quit in my own time without having to keep going to the pharmacy.

Worried about anti-depressant medication
Last year I attempted to stop smoking and was given
Champix
(which as well as assisting stopping smoking, is an anti-depressant) and that did not go well as they made me sick and and really affected my ability to work and think straight!

RECENTLY DIAGNOSED WITH EMPHYSEMA
I don't know anything about this condition and my doctor has said it is rare in someone my age (although I am a smoker who has smoked for just 6 years currently on
champix
desperate to quit) My doctor is sending me for more tests to test my enzymes(?!)

Quitting smoking with the help of champix
I am on day 14 of
champix
, still in shock that I haven't smoked. I have smoked 30/40 cigarettes every day for the past 37 years. I just desperately want to stay stopped. I would say I am a happy smoker!, I loved it, didn't really want to quit but thought I'd give it a go.

My life without fags!
Ive tried everything from patches to hypnotherapy to acupuncture to
champix
. Until today I thought I was totally helpless and quite possibly condemmed to a life of smoking and more than likely a life cut short.

Newbie to site. Diagnosed borderline COPD 5 years ago, stopped smoking 3.5 years ago after smoking up to 60 a day. Champix did the trick..
Initially was put on Salamol Easi-Breathe. Everything appeared fine until recently when I started with a chest infection back in October, since then I have had 5 more chest infection, 4 lots of antibiotics plus steroids along with Spiriva inhaler. Was due to take a spirometer test last week but the nurse

Could Crampex help with myofascial pain?
Apologies if this is a really silly question! I happened to see these tablets in Boots. They are actually for people whose calves cramp during the night, and contain magnesium, vitamin D3, and nicotinic acid. Nicotinic acid was in chillblain tablets that Boots used to sell years ago. Magnesium, of

What are the withdrawal Symptoms
I am on
Champix
. I have found that I am having a lot of trouble sleeping, terrible leg and arm cramps (which I do get every now and then but now find I am getting them every night and they are worse) and having to get up during the night to go the loo. Are these all withdrawal symptoms?

As far as smoking goes, ironically I gave up completely about a month before I was diagnosed with COPD (I was coughing that badly, I used
Champix
, fantastic, it seemed really easy, I recommend it to anyone who is trying to quit).

If you are thinking of quitting in the new year, will you be going cold turkey or need Nicotine Replacement Therapy to help you ??
