Smear test from hell!!!
Just had an awful experience having a smear test, so much pain, nurse had to get a doctor to do it. Anyone else had the same? Dreading my first mammogram too, have heard that is more painful for us too. Anyone due for a smear, I would advise you to take painkillers before you go to take the edge off,

Our ideal GF & DF party menu – no extra expense necessary
We went to another birthday party today. It was at a really good indoor playcentre and the kids had a great time. Obviously I prepared a packed lunch for Zac, my gluten and dairy intolerant three year old - as it would be foolish to expect that there would be anything on the menu that is suitable. But

Am I worrying too much re intermenstrual bleeding for two years and now they have found a complex cyst on right ovary.
I have been bleeding mid cycle for nearly two years, due to depression and a complete dislike to going to the G.P I'd just put it down to my age (47) and the probability of being pre-menopausal and basically just ignored the fact. I finally was forced to go to the G.P because it was time for my cervical

I know this is the 'silent disease' and I don't want to look like a hypochondriac, but can anyone help?
Hello, I hope nobody minds me asking this, but I am going crazy with worry. My last period lasted five weeks and was very heavy, bad cramps some days, mild ones on others. When it stopped, my doc did a pelvic exam and said all was good down there, he also did a smear and said my cervix looked fine

It's the way they tell 'em!!
Dear Fellows-in-surgery, I opened an official looking letter this morning thinking ' Great; another unnexpected bill', and was faced with an NHS headed A4 sheet which started: Dear Mrs **** We have been advised that your name should be removed from the list of women eligible for
cervical
screening

Horrible pain
This may or may not be fibro related (I think that the horrendous pain was though!) but wanted to share! I have had really painful and heavy periods for a while. GP checked all my hormones, etc and all is fine in that respect. She recommended the coil to help with the periods. I did some research

Hi Some of you have helped me in the past and will remember me I hope.. I don't post much but I read every day and if thoughts and wishes turned into reality, you would have all kicked this horrible disease. I am now 4 years past diagnosis (Stage 1c and Stage 3 Borderline just to be different

Not sure what to do about possible lupus
Hi all, Firstly sorry for this life storey but this may take a while to explain. I was told last year after an operation to remove a skin leision (looked like a cluster of very small warts) that they think I may have lupus. This op has left me with a rarther large scar on my arm for my upcomming

Cervical screening
Hello everyone, I recently had
cervical
screening
done and got my results back yesterday saying there were some abnormal changes to the cells. They did a test for HPV infection which came out negative. So the risk of cancer at this stage is very small.

Study and report says 'Many women underestimate fertility clock's clang' - what I thought when I read it
‘Many women underestimate fertility clock’s clang’ – a recent USA National Public Radio story reports. http://www.npr.org/2011/12/01/142725547/many-women-underestimate-fertility-clocks-clang Increasingly, every year there seems to be a study or story along these lines - one which reports

It’s Saturday night, I should be out having fun, but I’m not, far from it. With regards to my mental health I always seem to struggle with the weekends, I’m not sure why this is, it’s probably the onslaught of really awful so called entertainment programmes on TV so therefore I’m left with my own thoughts

I never learn
What a week. Overdid it the other day cleaning the hob and oven and also polishing the copper kettle which sits on the hob cover as it was filthy,. My cleaner only wipes over the top of the hob cover. What with all the scrubbing (cleaning an oven is not my idea of fun!), - I also did the kitchen floor

Ovarian Cyst, Pain, and bleeding. Updated!
I decided to write this down for two reasons. Firstly to "vent" and secondly for any lurkers out there who are in the same position as me; no diagnosis, but a nagging doubt in the back of my mind that things won't be so good. I started out last year with horrific pain (pulling in my stomach and radiating
