any one know effects of long term azithromycin?
Had my appointment at the hospital now and I have a few areas of very mild bronchiectasis . I have been prescribed long term Azithromycin. The effect after a week is wonderful stopped the cough and the pain and energy levels right back up to near normal for me. Just wondering if anyone out there knows

Newbie with Sarcoidosis
Hi everyone Thought I might introduce myself as for some strange reason I've only just found this forum. My name is Marie and I was diagnosed with Sarcoidosis in April 2011. My lungs have been damaged so much that they consider that I will need a lung transplant eventually. I've been on pred and azathioprine

Hi everyone, I have recently been diagnosed with mild to moderate Bronchiectasis.
This week the Consultant has put me on Azithromycin for 1wk and then every Mon, Wed and Fri following. I believe from the Consultant that this regime of drugs has had good results with patients, who like me, suffer from recurring lung infections. Has anyone out there any info to add. Maximonkey

had my chest xray results today I've a chest infection. Since feburary I've had a cough, costronditis and now an infection. Got to take erythromycin 4 times a day. then go back in a few months for another chest xray. I'm glad I know what's wrong finally, my chest has been killing me for four months.

How long does Prednisolone take to work?
My son (aged 8) is on a course of Azithromycin antibiotics and a 3 day course of Prednisolone tablets (6 tablets each day). In your experience, how long does it take for you to notice an improvement in your symptoms after taking Prednisolone? It always seems to take over 24 hours to see an improvement

Antibiotics do help!
Got
azythromycin
. Took 500mgx3 days , then 750mg 1x weekly as advised on some sites. after 2 weeks i stopped using the steroid inhaler, the node spray and the singulair. The wheezing is reduced by 95%; coughing almost completely gone, sinus much clearer.

Infection still
Hi This is my first ever post, and was just wondering if anyone else had symptoms like myself, regarding my recent infection. I always have Symbicort 400/12 two puffs twice a day, and use the Smart approach, although being on this treatment, i never ever feel 100% but much better than in the past.

Back on azithromycin
My little boy has been gradually reducing his meds to see if he could hold on lower doses....but now flixotide has been put back up and it looks as if he'll be back azithromycin. He first went on azithromycin when he was 2 and has only been off it for about 4 months and we're seeing his asthma control

Not sure how to proceed anymore
I have 4 year old twins and one of them has severe/difficult/brittle (every hospital has different names for it) asthma. She was diagnosed at 7 months old and she is unfortunately getting worse. She was admitted 14 times last year and that doesn't even begin to detail the number of times we have dealt

Appointment for 'fine cut scan'
We have an appointment for Alfie to have a fine cut scan...19th March. I've pinned so much on this appointment, I keep trying to not build it up but I'm failing badly. He's had such difficult to control asthma since he was a baby and now aged 7 they're going to try and figure out exactly whats going

Having a hard time working out what are side effetcs and what are other symptoms???
Having a difficult time working out which symptoms are caused by medicines and which could be other problems. I have generally taken to putting any short lived pain, vomitting or general weirdness down to side effects from meds, but have now come to the point I am a bit concerned about a couple of symptoms

Azithromycin might be making a difference
Alfie has had a week and a bit on his new anti bi and strangely it seems to have helped! We've had 2 days with no audible wheeze and his cough seems to be settling. Fingers crossed that it continues for a while. Hopefully it will allow his heart to recover - his last appointment a possible problem
