Switch from Azithromycin to Doxycycline
Hi, I have severe asthma and pseudomonas infection for which I’ve been put back on Colomycin nebs following an infection that wouldn’t resolve, but did after I asked my GP if we could try a course of cipro (they didn’t try that first as sputum sample didn’t show pseudomonas). I’ve had to switch from

Bronchiectasis.. Should you stop talking Azithromycin if you have to start Ciprofloxacin?
Hi Bronchiectasis friends I Have colonized pseudomonas.. diagnosed last October .. feel ok but this week I’m not sure if I’m having a flare up . My only change is that I’m producing more mucus & I can feel it sometimes in the center of my chest. May have to start my ciprofloxacin rescue pack ..😖

Oxygen : to be or not to be? A long sad tale.
BACKGROUND I have Bronchiectasis and bronchiolitis obliterans. For 2yrs + my Fev1 was 30%. DOWNHILL Aug 2020 I was in hospital with an infective flare up. On O2 for 12 hrs. Strong antibiotics. A week on I insisted on a sputum test. 16 days in hospital, my blood test results showed a lessening of symptoms

Persistent Congestion and Asthma
I have recently tested clear after several months of pseudomonas, in fact 2 clear tests but I'm really struggling with asthma and congestion, particularly when I lay down which is stopping me sleeping. I'm taking colomycin nebuliser twice a day, azithromycin 5 times a week at the moment, reducing to

Hello, I’m new here my Name is nicola
I will have to start taking azithromycin 3 times a week as I have had 5 chest infections last year and twice ended up in hospital stay. The antibiotics did not work and had to have steroids. I would like to continue with my yoga classes at the gym without picking up infections. If anyone, is taking

My first post, how can I manage sleeplessness caused by asthma?
Hello, I'm 71 and have asthma, bronchiectasis, Marfan's syndrome and chronic pseudomonas infection. My immediate problem is that worsening breathlessness just before Christmas at night led to me having to sleep sat up on the sofa for a few nights. I can see from other posts that these are not uncommon

What are the worst drugs for Parkinson’s disease patients?
Patients may not be aware that some common drugs used for conditions such as headache or gastrointestinal dysmotility may also block dopamine, and concomitantly worsen Parkinson’s disease, or alternatively result in parkinsonism. These drugs include Prochlorperazine (Compazine), Promethazine (Phenergan

Does Azithromycin cause RLS
I was given a zpak 2weeks ago. I now have trembling in my legs and torso which is causing insomia. For the last 5 days I have only slept 2-3 hours a night. I don’t even know where to begin to get help. Any suggestions for a new sufferer?

Covid booster whilst taking Azithromycin
Has anyone had the covid booster jab whilst taking long-term azithromycin for asthma? I had the AZ vaccine for first two and having Pfizer for booster and can’t seem to get a clear answer if okay to have whilst on this med. Already anxious of any side effect so don’t need the added lot

Sputum testing? Recurring chest infection
Hi. My daughter (12) is starting her third course of Azithromycin today. Her asthma has been bad since end of October, the consultant suspected a mycoplasma infection and two courses of Azithromycin seemed to finally have cleared it. She was better for a good week, then went downhill again. Started coughing

Just had a review with my respiratory consultant and they are happy that the azithromycin and montelukast combination are working. So will be on that over the winter months. My peak flows have increased slightly which is also good news. I am tolerating the fostair 200/6 so will be on that long term

Anyone with experience of Azithromycin 250mg tablets?
Winter again! Bad news for me as I suffer from Bronchiectasis as well as being diagnosed with paroxysmal AF. (Fortunately not had episode of AF since first two years ago). Face to Face with heart surgeons!
Hi all. I have Bronchiectasis and am on Azithromycin. I had some lung function tests the other week that show I'm functioning at over 100% for my age (70) weight etc! I was also diagnosed with a congenital fenestrated A-V septum in March 2020. The hole is about 1.8cm x 0.8cm and has fibres across it

AZITHROMYCIN
Hello everyone, A few weeks ago I posted on here that a sample of my sputum showed two unpleasant pathogens. I was advised by my Respiratory nurse to start taking my rescue pack of Doxycycline for 14 days then after one week to provide a further sputum sample to see if the pathogens were still present

Add on drugs that are usually prescribed by a consultant part 1 (LAMAs, add-on inhalers, theo)
Hi everyone - it’s been a while! Here is the next (probably long awaited 😅) infomercial! Here are some of the drugs commonly prescribed by a local consultant. That being said, GPs can (and do) prescribe a lot of them, but I’d suggest if you’re on one of them and are not under a hospital consultant (

My respiratory nurse has written to the consultant suggesting i maybe need long term antibiotics (Azithromycin ) to prevent further infections. Can anyone who is on long term antibiotics for similar tell me if this is likely to be every other day or 3 days a week and how many times a day in their experience
