FEELING LET DOWN BY EMPLOYER
Having been diagnosed in 2007 with OC I had a radical hysterectomy followed by standard chemo and a trial for
Avastin
. Fast forward to Nov 2011 and a return of the cancer in my pelvis.

I have asked her about the chemo she offered carbo/caelyx and asked about
avastin
she looked up the information while I was there and has agreed that I could have carbo/gem
avastin
and keep carbo/caelyx as a option for another time.

Will remain on
Avastin
- which is working; yippee. Can now look forward as this time last year I wasn't even sure I would see Christmas. As you all know we greet each new positive piece of news with joy. Love to you all.

Cancer Drugs Fund in Wales - or Lack of it
I was denied a drug
Avastin
by my local health board - Cardiff and the Vale NHS Trust. My oncologist then suggested a clinical trial at the Royal Marsden that would pay for it - a total care cost of about £34,000 all provided by the clinical trial and therefore a saving to the Wales NHS.

The joys of Avastin and Gemzar
Went for check up to oncologist yesterday to find that after one round of chemo and
Avastin
my CA125 is down by over 25pc. I am very happy with that. Today went for 8th day Gemzar to be sent home. My white cell count was too low.

Decision made - delaying 2nd treatment :)
My
Avastin
has been approved and will remain that way until I begin the regime of carbo/gem. I am pleased that I was able to take control and after speaking to the specialist nurse, she confirmed that she felt my decision was the right one.

Avastin - Exciting news from European Society of Gynae Oncology meeting - Liverpool
As I'm sure you know, there is evidence that
Avastin
prolongs remission when given both in first line treatment and in relaps, however todays data looks at the overall survival.

Finding it hard going
Side effects from
Avastin
are difficult and headaches and joint pain are draining me. Everyone i meet is comments on how wonderful it is that my initial treatment went so well but i just want to scream that its Stage IV and it will be coming back. Work is heavy on my mind.

I am due to have a pic line fitted soon?
My veins are being difficult and keep hiding from the chemo nurses (little devils) and it has been suggested I have a pic line fitted for the remaining two chemos and for the months of
Avastin
. Any tips would be helpful. I am a little worried about the fact I already have a PUlmonary embolism.

CT scan shows significant increase in lymph nodes plus rising CA125. Planned 2nd round chemo end October.
Treatment will be carboplatin, gemcitabine plus the wonder drug
Avastin
. I know some ladies are or have received this concoction in the past so any advice welcome. I am just going to enjoy the next 5 weeks before the battle begins again. Very hard on my family at the moment. Stress levels high.
