Check up time once more
Getting back to the sinus issues, the gynae nurse and the reg were surprised that it would be connected with the
Avastin
. Then the ent department consider the bone thinning as a side effect of the said drug so who do I believe. I return to ent consultant in Feb.

Apologies
I wrote that
Avastin
was roughly £25000 for a 10 month course which is £1.56 for every year of life a 50 year old woman has lived. It is actually £1.36. Not much really, is it?

Ringing ears
I have just completed chemo number 8 (of 9) of carboplatin and taxol, with this one including
Avastin
. Has anyone else suffered with ringing ears?

The Cancer Drugs Fund review results
Thus far it has provided access for one ovarian cancer drug,
Avastin
. In December the CDF met to review some, but not all drugs on its list as well as to consider a number of new drugs that pharmaceutical companies had submitted for listing.

Good News from ONC - It worked!!!!!
I had a successful surgery on July 30 followed with six lots of paclitaxel/carboplatin,
Avastin
continuing. (Stage 4 OC) Pre chemo I had a spot in the liver they were not sure about - I had an existing liver cyst and it was not clear whether the spot was pre-existing or cancer related.

GemCarbo with Avastin
Is anybody else on these. My prognosis isn't wonderful but I have a very fulfilling life. Hoe is anybody else coping with this combination?

What's next?
She only finished her last chemo in May this year and has been on
Avastin
since then - she was very disappointed when told last week that her CA125 has begun to rise again!

So far so good!
She is home 2 weeks now, on daily cyclophosphamide and has had two doses of
avastin
so far, that's being given fortnightly.

Flu vac for or against???
I suppose the
Avastin
does affect your white cells so it is bound to hit you a bit. I never asked at the time. However its only a glitch in the bigger picture and will just take paracetamol and hope I dont have a temperature for next

in two days time. Hope everyone is good.

Post First Line Consultation Today
Avastin
update Asked about
avastin
the answer for me is a no. Reason being they took me off Pacltaxol after chemo 2 due to an allergic rash and switched to Caelyx. The Cancer Drugs Fund will only pay if had Carbo/Pacli firstline for Stage 4 which is what I am. No point appealing she said.

Third line treatment imminent but not till the New Year.
She told me that the as the growths in the lymph nodes had increased in volume plus there are new growths, the
Avastin
is not working and the cancer has managed to find its way round the treatment. Clever little bugger grrrrr.

£170 for taking part in Phone Research
On this occasion they're looking for nine patients with Non-small-cell lung carcinoma (NSCLC) who have had
Avastin
as part of their treatment and the research is conducted by phone interview.

Cyclophosphamide and Avastin
Hopefully she will soon be able to start chemo, which will be oral cyclophosphamide which she can take at home, not sure how often, and
Avastin
every 2 weeks. Does anyone have any (hopefully positive) experience of this combination? Hope everyone has had a reasonably good day.
