Cataract surgery and anticoagulants
The hospital say I don’t need to stop the
anticoagulants
(Endoxaban in my case) before the op. They only seemed concerned if I was on Warfarin. Just wondering if anyone has had cataract removal and what advice they were given? Thanks 😊

Something to smile about
Why couldn't tinkerbell go to the anticoagulation clinic? Because they have Apixiban.

erratic heart performance
I am in my mid nineties, a year ago I had a TAVI to replace a faulty aortic heart valve. This seems to be effective. Recently I have given up my gym exercises because of the danger of picking up the coronavirus. I get some exercise at home with a static bike. This helps but I observe that my heart beats

Irregular heart beat
Hi everyone! My mum (67yo) has been diagnosed with an irregular heart beat. It was diagnosed Nov 2019 and despite being on blood thinners and bisoprolol (10mg as of last week) since then her heart rate is still around 100bpm whenever she goes to the GP. Her blood tests come back fine and she had a chest

Flecainide Journey Continued...
Hello again. Thank you to everyone for your support up to now. It has been massively appreciated. I’m 10 days in taking 2 x 50mg of Flecainide daily and had a horrible AF episode yesterday again. Really struggled to get it to slow down. Have spoken with GP who doesn’t want to change things without

More questions re Russian Cardioversion
I am in Russia and may have the opportunity for a cardioversion next week, though I'd have to return home soon after. Two questions 1 TOE ? Is it traumatic. I bottled out of an MRI scan in Russia because of a language barrier with the operator. I don't want to pay up and then flunk out of the TOE

My GP wants to put me on
anticoagulants
. I've refused just now. I feel like I've been hit with a life-changing bombshell and don't know where to turn for advice. I eat well, sleep well, don't drink, smoke etc. I'm not overweight.

Azithromycin Dihydrate - an antibiotic - Just some info to consider.
I also just read that the new
anticoagulants
negatively compromise the immune system. Valentines day is tomorrow and the heart is the centre of the celebration. Look after yours and happy Valentine's Day!!

Hi everyone, I haven’t really thought much about the Coronavirus and MPN ET. I am only on blood thinners and aspirin as of yet as I only found out I had it a couple of weeks ago. Does anyone know if it effects people with MPN ET? I didn’t think it would but after hearing about things I just wanted to

anticoagulant vs AF
Firstly, I fear there are as many deaths from
anticoagulants
(internal bleeding) than from AF and secondly, I hate the idea of taking a medication daily for a problem I experience only occasionally. Some views would be welcome. thanks.

DVT and now diagnosed with Behçet's
Hi all, just wanted to introduce myself and my story. I am a 38 year old male. I have suffered from small but fairly regular mouth ulcers for years, but they come and go. About a year ago I had some pain in my ankles and leg, which lasted a couple of weeks but went away of it's own accord. It felt like

Blood thinners post surgery
I have to have knee replacement surgery. The surgeon said I need to be on a blood thinner, which I knew. I have progressed to the beginning of cirrhosis. What thinners have any of you used? I see my doctor in a week or so to talk about it, but I wanted to see if anyone has experience with this.

Some advice sought about AC drugs
Hello. AFA suggested I join this forum as, probably like many people, I have been advised by a consultant cardiologist to take an anticoagulant having scored 2 (I am a female aged 65). I accept that this is a sensible suggestion (despite understandably not being terribly happy about having to take such

My ablation news from Barts
I had an appointment at Barts yesterday. This time I saw the most senior consultant who said that he didn’t think that my PAF burden was too high at the moment (I’ve had PAF on average once every two months since last July). He recommended coming off the waiting list, but said to get back to him if

Hashimoto’s & Thin Blood?
Twice in the past month, a phlebotomist asked me if I was taking an anticoagulant whilst they were taking my bloods. Two different phlebotomists. I’m not but with one, my blood spurted out so quick, he was having difficulty controlling the spillage! I know our thyroid obviously controls our blood flow

Finally getting somewhere... hopefully
So I haven't posted in 4 months as I was waiting until I had something more to report. I had my 12 week lupus anticoagulant follow up test and this came back positive again with a note that if this is not caused by lupus then it needs following up. The luoys unit have signed me off so haven't looked
