Mount Sinai study finds COVID patients were most commonly readmitted to hospital for respiratory complications
Return to hospital after admission for COVID-19 was infrequent within 14 days of discharge. The most common cause for return was respiratory distress. Patients who returned more likely had COPD and hypertension, shorter LOS on index-hospitalization, and lower rates of in-hospital treatment-dose anticoagulation

UTTER FRUSTRATION
I have an understanding GP who in the current restrictions I am grateful for. I spoke to her on Tuesday regarding current issues experiencing on phone appt. as there are no face to face and she got me in yesterday for a blood test. That was a little frustrating in itself as it was only one blood (assuming

Opportunity to be involved in an AF study
We have been asked to assist with research into the experiences of AF patients who are currently taking anticoagulant medications (specifically warfarin and rivaroxaban). The aim of this study is to gain a detailed insight into patient experiences when prescribed anticoagulation therapy for treatment

LA and COVID
Hi all, I hope you’re well! This news just came out. https://www.medpagetoday.com/infectiousdisease/covid19/88044 LA might lead to thrombosis in COVID-19. Not really a surprise though :) Anyway, they also mention that blood clots still occur with LA on anticoagulation with COVID. They recommend

Sperm DNA fragmentation - is marginally moderate damage a huge issue?
My husband has just had the sperm DNA fragmentation test done, following three miscarriages and a chemical pregnancy in the last year. He has fallen just outside of the normal range, which is annoying. Apparently 0-15% is low, 15-25% is moderate and 25% and over is high. His score was 16.9%. Does anyone

Apixaban (Eliquis) anticoagulant
Good morning everyone. I thought I would give you an update: If you have been following me, you will know that I have been taking Warfarin for 5 years During that time my INR was never stable - my target was 4 but my readings swung from 2 - 16.8. I was tested at least once a week (even when away on

What experiences have you/anyone had with the CALM HEART supplement capsules? I question it's safety to take with APIXABAN and BISOPROLOL
CALM HEART sold in Europe by Aconitum has several herbs in it. It has Hawthorn extract, Garlic, Valerian extract, Motherwort extract, Magnesium, Folic Acid, B12, B6. I don't know it it is available in Canada and the USA. Frankly I wouldn't use it as some of the items in my opinion are contraindicated

I expect to have my first eye injection I. Two weeks and am dreading it. My question is that do any of you think beefing on apaxiban for AF ( a blood thinner) could have caused the bleed and not just my dry macular degeneration changing to wet. Has anyone had experience with blood thinners and wet

Incidental Pulmonary Embolism in Oncologic Patients
Those who do not die on the way to the ER are then put on
anticoagulants
. In other words, there are no prophylactic meds, so docs do not screen for patients at risk - or even look for active clots. "Incidental pulmonary embolism (IPE) is a common finding on computed tomography (CT).

The joys of anticoagulation hoho
I have found that the problem with
anticoagulants
is not that a clot won’t form but it is very delicate and friable. Saga warning! As my daughter is between homes her mountain bike is parked in our seriously overstuffed garage.
