Rescue Meds? I was in Uk for 3 weeks over Christmas and New Year. Had an exacerbation of COPD and went on rescue meds, 500g amoxicillin
3 times aday and prednisolone 5mg, 6 tablets a day. The infection did not clear and I went to the doc in France today. She said those levels of meds were for children and wasn't surprised they hadn't worked. Prescribed cefpodoxime 200mg morning and evening and 70mg of prednisolone a day. What are the

Welcome to the world of Pred
I've been coughing almost constantly now for 2 weeks (and i've completely lost my voice today too) so i decided it was time to see the doctor. I got in about 5.15 (not bad in our surgery for a 5pm appointment). She did all the normal tests - tempertaure / look in my ears and throat / peak flow and listen

Re consultant
Evening everyone Feeling really down just been to see my stand in consultant, was hoping for answers as to why I've felt so rubbish since June just didn't expect him to be quite so candid. I did know my emphysema was severe, he said it's very severe and wide spread which means lung reduction wouldn't

Recurring bladder infection
I'm 16 weeks pregnant and keep getting bladder infections. The first one at 10 weeks was found out after a routine sample was sent off by my midwife. No other symptoms besides feeling nauseous and peeing a lot which is why it went undetected for a while. The second one was at 14 weeks when I asked for

Self Medication!
Just had a letter from my GPs practice and they have sent me a prescription for Amoxicillin and Prednisolone to self medicate if I get a bad turn during the winter. Not entirely happy, but given it can take two to three weeks to see a Doctor it could save time getting treatment. Luckily my Wife is very

Pseudonomas
Anyone been diagnosed with this bug? I had a sputum test months ago which resulted in me being given a course of Amoxicillin. After a follow up test the surgery never got back in touch with me so I assumed all was well until at my COPD check the nurse mentioned I'd had two lots of ABs. I corrected her

Urinary infection in pregnancy?
I'm 9 weeks pregnant and my urine results came back with an infection so im on amoxicillin 250mg 3 times a day for 5 days. I was having symptoms of feeling hot and cold and shivery from a few weeks back but I never thought it might be due to a water infection because I didn't have the usual symptoms

Pride comes before a fall. Dilemma
Having just been congratulating myself on not having had a chest infection for seven months, today I have the blocked nose, headache, wobbly legs etc. For me every cold goes to my lungs within a couple of days. The dilemma - I have rescue meds, erythromycin and steroids, - do I start now on the antibiotics

More antibiotics and steroids
I posted a couple days ago as I was very breathless with normal coloured sputum. I was advised to see my COPD nurse, which I did this morning. I have been put on amoxicillin and prednisalone as I do have a lung infection. She has also has booked me in to have blood tests and an ECG, as my brother died

Has anyone reacted badly to this years flu jab?
My mum had her flu jab on Tuesday and has been really struggling since. She had just finished a course of co amoxiclav and started on levofloxacin on the Monday, as we thought she had an infection that wasn't responding. She has been showing all signs of an increasing infection but once again sputum

Kidney infection related to Hughes Syndrome and/or SLE?
Hi all, I was wondering whether a kidney infection is a common issue in Hughes Syndrome or SLE. I recently had one, my GP put me on amoxicillin for 5 days but I still experience symptoms despite having completed the course of antibiotics. I am thinking of re-visiting my GP in case the 5-day course
