Update and new Ablation date.
Hi everyone , i thought I would update now as there is finally a bit of good news, after
Amiodarone
induced thyroid toxicity ( overactive ) , the thyroid levels are back in the normal realms, I still need monthly thyroid blood tests until October when I see the endocrinologist again to hopefully sign

Why is it never simple.....!
I am willing to try again to improve my quality of life but have had 2 cardio versions, first one didn't work at all, second one I was loaded with
amiodarone
and it lasted 3 weeks. Must admit not looking forward to going down the
amiodarone
route.

Rate Control
Well, my AF broke through the
Amiodarone
and left me hospitalised again. This time the Cardioligist is trying a Rate Control Strategy continuing with maintenance dose of 200 mg of
Amiodarone
in the morning and 7.5 Bisop. in the evening just before bed.

Weight loss and medication
Currently on Bisoprolol 10mg, Digoxin 125 mg, Levothyroxin 75 mg (as a side effect of previously being on
Amiodarone
) and Rivaroxaban 20 mg. Just wondering whether any of these doses needs to be reduced in view of a lower body weight.

I'm confused!
At the same time I can't help wondering if the episodes are medication side effects, but the cardio's almost casual response to that was to suggest switching to
Amiodarone
, and I don't feel I can face any more changes - especially after reading up on
Amiodarone
!

Dronedarone and Amiodarone
There are past and present discussions in the forum about Dronedarone and
Amiodarone
. I've mentioned in the past that I was hospitalised because of cryptogenic organising pnuemonia secondary to Dronedarone and
Amiodarone
.

Amiodarone - 3 weeks in
I'm not sure if this was a side effect of
Amiodarone
but my blood was almost black. The positives is that I have not lapsed back into AF and had stayed steady at 50ish bpm. I dont want to be on
Amiodarone
long but have been pleasantly surprised by things so far.

3 options given by cardiologist
I chose option 2# but I am now horrified to read about the awful effects of
amiodarone
and I'm considering just staying on the drugs I've been on for 7 months.

Thank you to everyone for the info you have given me on
Amiodarone
. I spoke to my pharmacist this morning and he has suggested I try taking it but if I get any of the bad side effects to stop and speak to my GP. Thanks again for your replies Judy

Here's one for the experts
I have been on
Amiodarone
for 3 weeks now. During that time my water retention has significantly got better. So much so I am reducing the amount of diuretics I am taking and my hands calf's, feet and arms are almost back to normal. Why would that be?

Amiodarone
I saw a cardiologist this morning and he has prescribed me
Amiodarone
tablets Having read the side effects I am a bit apprehensive about taking them so if anyone can tell me if they have had any problems with these tablets I would appreciate your opinion. Thank you.

Amiodarone - Week 2
I wonder if anyone can help with the symptoms of an early user of
Amiodarone
. I'm in week 2 of the loading process. 2 x 200 mg. I'm feeling pretty washed out and breathless.

Question about amiodarone
My EP prescribed
amiodarone
and possible cardioversion. This is my 2nd day on
amiodarone
and I'm pretty sure my pulse is mostly normal and I'm having no obvious side effects. However, the toxicity of
amiodarone
is well established.

Amiodarone Blues!
Quick question - has any of my fellow
Amiodarone
sufferers ever actually turned blue? I live in Scotland and hoping that the watery sunshine we get here wont turn me into a Smurf.

EP consultation
From his side the options were
Amiodarone
- I feel that is last resort and I am not there yet, Flecainide which I am not keen on but will consider but want to be observed for first dose in hospital in case of Myasthnic crisis - which he agreed was essential.

My first post: advice ahead of repeat tests
The clinician has noted: Elevated TSH; causes include the side effect of non-thyroidal illness, subclinical hypothyroidism and medication including anti-convulsants,
amiodarone
, beta-blockers etc. Suggest repeat in 3 - 6 months, after excluding non-thyroidal illness and drug effects.

Burnt Out Cardiomyopathy.
I have been started on
Amiodarone
and if that fails I will be put on rate control drugs and if they don't work I will be put on a CRT-D Pacemaker. No one has mention a heart transplant yet but at 58 I may be to old. I just wondered if anyone else had this and what was there experience.
