Autopsies tell us the secrets of Parkinson's...
The brains of Parkinson's patients tell us some of the secrets of the disease at autopsy... "For History must be our deliverer, not only from the undue influence of other times, but from the undue influence of our own, from the tyranny of environment and the pressure of the air we breathe". Acton.

Can we prevent, slow or halt, improve symptoms and reduce the severity of Parkinson's?
"Some things from the past are gone but others open a gap to the future and they are the ones I want to rescue." Mario Benedetti Current Neurology, which has made undeniable advances against Parkinson's, tells us that the disease is degenerative and symptoms are getting worse over the years, despite

4 amazing videos that change the way we look at Parkinson's.

Levodopa vs. Mucuna Pruriens, How Similar Are They And Which One Is More Effective?
These two are discussed quite frequently on the forum so I decided to do some reading about them. Some members have reported better effects with Mucuna Pruriens (MP) while others are quite happy with Levodopa (L-Dopa) and see no need to to try anything else. Some on this forum have mentioned previously

I think I’m a hypochondriac, I suspect they do too!
They administered
Adenosine
Tri-Phosphate. After that episode in Feb/Mar I noticed a heady feeling increasingly & a weightiness in my chest. I also had days of trying to breathe air that was thick. Moving legs up the stairs with invisible weights tied to them. Frequent pauses to go up stairs.

New MD Anderson Trial with Adenosine Receptor Antagonist and Small Molecule Inhibitor
It involves the following drugs: 1) AB928, an
adenosine
receptor antagonist; 2) AB680, a small molecule inhibitor (CD73 inhibitor); and 3) Zimberelimab, an anti-PD-1. I have done a little research on these drugs but haven't come up with much.

Update re Emergency Room trip etc
The best guess is that the metoprolol IV-drip they gave me slowed my heart rate enough so that it reset itself and I didn't need
Adenosine
or a conversion.

Geoffrey Burnstock [age 91] obituary | Shifted ATP paradigm - gut nerves | Neuroscience | The Guardian
New techniques in molecular biology made it possible to isolate and identify a family of receptors on cell surfaces for ATP and its breakdown product
adenosine
; and Burnstock’s team threw themselves into discovering what happened when they activated or blocked these receptors.

Anxious starting Tildiem for SVT’s
In the end I needed an injection (not
adenosine
as asthmatic), as the two modified vagal manoeuvres made my HR higher. Within a few minutes of the injection I went into sinus rhythm although still up in the 100’s. If that hadn’t worked they were going to do something electrical???

Second ablation for SVT
Move forward to December 2019, I got another SVT attack of 210 BPM and had to go to the hospital to have it slowed down with
adenosine
. I have an appointment to have a second ablation done April 16, 2020 and am feeling worried, dissapointed and scared as the first time.

Optimism, anyone?
Adenosine
was said to be a player in RLS and one of the most respected RLS doctors said we could look forward to a time when DAs were no longer fist-line drugs. It was even mooted a non-augmenting DA might be on the horizon.

Nourianz new medication to reduce off time
This is the new class of medication:
adenosine
A24 inhibitor. It doesn't have anything to do with dopamine. It can reduce OFF time by as much as 2 hours. It was used in Japan for quite awhile and now it has been approved in US.

Stress MRI
Have a cardiac perfusion MRI on Thurs, with a generous dollop of the playful
adenosine
to bring back some lovely memories of my heart attack. In the tube about an hour. I actually think I would prefer to be at work.

Let's Start Again - a tale of Woe
That was plain bizarre,, the
Adenosine
drug they inject makes you feel as if you are chuffing up a great long hill and really works the heart hard, ended up puffing and panting in the scanner. The difference is, when you are chuffing up a real hill, at least you can stop....
