Acth Test
Hi all i'm due to have an Synacthen test in a few weeks due to the fact I struggle to raise Thyroxine without having hyper side effects. I am so scared and would like to know if im worrying needlessly.

Can a Short Synacthen identify Secondary Adrenal Insufficiency?
The test entails administration of an
ACTH
bio-similar agent to stimulate the Adrenal Glands to produce Cortisol then blood tests are taken at 30 and 60 minutes post administration however surely this will only identify issues with Adrenal and not the
ACTH
producing cells in the Pituitary Gland - am

Still dont feel well!
The warm weather wont be helping with this i'm sure. i have little motivation and would rather sit down than do anything energetic. i did have low morning cortisol a while ago and has the
acth
stimulation test but it came back okay.

HC prescription based on saliva test?
I feel worse and endo sent me for an
ACTH
stimulation test, waiting for result. If that will be normal, I would redo the saliva test as something is surely not right (in 2013 noon cortisol was only 3.2 – range: 1.2-17.8 nM.

ACTH stim test
I did a saliva test back in Sep 2013, results are: AM- 17.8 (2.4-33.7) Noon – 3.2 (1.2-17.8) PM – 4.1 (0.5-12.1) Midnight – 1.2 (0.3-11.0) DHEA (Noon-PM average) 3.0 (0.8-7.5) Since then I feel a lot worse so went to endo who ordered

Reposting Question About Adrenals
Is there an adrenals test -
ACTH
or something similar - as I don't see that in any of my blood test results although would have to double check. Is that another one of those that you have to do privately?

Want to know if these things are normal
Low
ACTH
but doctor not interested in finding out why. Testosterone way low hey doctor not worried. I used to work out daily and could do spin class and run miles. How do I safely get back to working out? I don't want to be fearful to exercise for a whole year!!! That won't help any of this.

Cortisol level...am I normal now?
(My
ACTH
test after the crash saw me rise from 35-67) Does this mean that I am back to normal or am I still at the lower end of normal? I am about to go in for an op and do not know whether my cortisol is still an issue.

NHS tests that may help diagnose adrenal issues
ACTH
- measures the level of the hormone in blood Adrenal antibodies - self explanatory Lyme serology - test for Lyme disease Fasting gut hormones - a test to find out if there is a pituitary tumour
ACTH
stim test - measuring the stress response of the adrenals to
ACTH
, which can assess the function

Advice please
The endo has checked by cortisol with an
ACTH
test which was normal although I think the cortisol level at 351 nmol/l at 9am in the morning could be higher, (what does everyone else think?)

Prednisone versus Nutri adrenal extra
This dose was suggested due to my Cortisol and
ACTH
being Low - Cortisol was 112 and
ACTH
was 12. However, I cannot tolorate Prednisone - it has horrendous side effects. I am waiting to see Dr P, but in the meantime I would like to try Nutri adrenal extra. Has anybody experienced this?
