While I was on
Actemra
injections it was down to about 5. I saw gp last week and he said if it is over 40 at next blood test I will need to increase from 5mg to 10mg prednisolone. Going to the shops today my legs were back to feeling like jelly.

NHS rapid policy statement on Tocilizumab for GCA during the Covid-19 pandemic
Tocilizumab (Ro-
actemra
) comes off licence this year and the hope is that other pharmaceutical companies will produce generic ( cheaper) versions to enable more people to at least try it. Best wishes to you all, Ros

He’s also going to put me on
Actemra
, which I will self inject. So this is basically where I’m up to on my journey. I just want to do everything possible to avoid unwanted side effects.

Actemra info
She said that section 12.2 of full patient prescribing information insert (on line) for
Actemra
says that ESR & CRP are influenced & decreased by
actemra
. CRP & ESRare not good indicator of inflammation for person taking
Actemra
. She said high or fluctuating bp is very common.

BP labile & dizzy spells & arm pain
I think
Actemra
or maybe Boniva effects my thinking, or at least I get to use it as an excuse.

Update on diverticulitis and prednisone taper
I feel pretty good on the 15 mgs but we are not going to start
actemra
until I get settled down. I am so tired. 17 days of antibiotics really did me in...nausea the whole time. Just wondering what is next. 🙄🤪

Tapering UK style.....slowly~!
I've been trying to taper my prednisolone and take an injection of
Actemra
each week. Right now 8 mg seems to be my sweet spot and my rheumy here in the states was having me reduce by 2mg per week.

Tired and weak
I’m down to 4mg of Prednisone and having
Actemra
4mg by IV every month. I’ve used the DSNS method and have reduced by half a milligram at a time. My adrenal test can back as 20, right in the middle of normal. Just had my bloodwork done. My Sed is 2 and my CRP was .7.

I have a question, GCA type😎🤔😏
I also inject
Actemra
each week. My immediate thought was to go back up to 8 mg. But if there is no inflammation would it matter? I'll talk myself out of this speedbump in short order, but I'm disappointed. Anybody else in this boat with me?

Update
My new rheumatologist said not to start new
actemra
which I got approved but do not have until I see her. Not sure when that will be as we are restricted until mid July. No one in hospital I was in and out in 1 1/2 hrs. Fastest ER ever.

GCA - PMR doing great after 2 months
Since my inflammatory markers are worthless for me, we will just watch for symptoms to see if an increase in medication or
Actemra
are indicated.

What We Did Right: Israeli Doctors Explain How They Beat the Coronavirus
To treat the inflammatory element of the illness, many doctors are using the drug
Actemra
(tocilizumab). “And in extreme cases steroids are also given as a treatment, which is controversial,” Shapira says.

A bit of a GCA flare...not bad
I can sort of understand why because I was on 125mg of Prednisone for two months and then 68 of methylprednisolone from October 2019 to December 2019 when he started reducing it in coordination with introducing
Actemra
.
