Yeah I have but I wanted a more honest opinion than the 'official spiel' you get in the brochures/info leaflets! Was looking for more of what is was actually like there, treartment, routine, food (!), staff, atmosphere etc. I've bee in Kimmeridge a cuple of timess and found them more like a family atmosphere tha a hospital but unfortutely funding cuts mean Somerset don't use them anymore ad my only other experience was in the Priory in Bristol and i found them really unhelpful, uncaring and the whole experience was extremely traumatic and I'm scared of endig up somewhere like that again :-(

I do really want it...which unit are you talking about, STEPS or Haldon? I know Haldon uses DBT which is what has been suggested therapy wise as I'm crap with emotions...hate them!! Can you tell me anymore about the unit? Silly things like do you get your own room; what's the menu like/food routine/snacks like; do you get dislikes (true ones obv and not fear foods!); can you take TV/laptop; is there wireless internet; do you get to go off unit; what are the staff like...that sort of thing? Basically anything you can that isn't in the brochure! I did so well at Kimm, it suited me because they treated you like a person and not just something to be fattened up and sent on your way, and the food was realistic ie: the sort of thing you would eat 'normally' and not just all fear foods but lots of balance and you were involved in the decisions regarding changes etc, especially around snacks.

I know it's lot of questions but I was so determined to do this one as an outpatiet, but the pysch support I was promised has so far been unforthcoming and they seem to be dragging their heels on getting it sorted...i feel like they just want me off their responsibility!

stay strong and thank you x

Hi i see this question was a few months ago now but just incase your still wanting info...ive been with steps for years (too many), been inpatient there 7 times and know friends that have been to Haldon. If you want to know any info, i think i can probably answer most things on STEPS and a bit about Haldon, or if i dont know the answer i can certainly try find it out for you from friends that have been i.p there.

Good luck, hope you did get the info you needed. x

Thank you Dot2Dot...yes, I would still be interested in any info you can give me about STEPS..in particular the inpatient side. It's the usual questions really...what are the nurses like, do you get your own room, what's the bathroom situation like, are there different supervision levels that you can work through as you progress, mealtimes and snacktimes (family style around a table? dislikes and what criteria? what sort of meals are there and what are the snacks?!) and just general stuff like what you can take, and what are the therapies like?!! Not much really!!
