I suffered total hair loss aged 16. Not diagnosed with SLE until 26. I am now 58 and still have patch hair loss.

I had thinning and then some patchy hair loss - none fell out if just didn't grow back. The dermatologist couldn't identify exactly what was the cause - it was most likely a combination of lupus and going through the menopause as I didn't take any drugs (HRT etc). So the 2 together caused a lot of hair loss. I am using minoxidil 5% on private prescription and my hair is definitely thicker than it was with far less patches.

This is really interesting to see. My thin hair is something Im always trying to hide as vain as that sounds x

Not vain at all Sammie, I was distraught when I had patches and thinning, it was the final flipping straw! See my answer above and also my article on hair loss on the website as there are some great fibres you can sprinkle on which are brilliant at disguising thinning, I tried them and felt 100% better. x

I have a lot of hair loss with lupus; could you give me the link to your article ( mentioned above) about the fibres you can sprinkle on which are brilliant at disguising thinning. Thanks! :)

Here you go: lupus.org.uk/component/cont... There's a discount code for the fibres there too. I need to update the article as I have had success with minoxydil, my hair's much better than it was. So maybe check back with the article for the update in a couple of days. :)
