How are you all

How is everyone.? Thought I'd put somthing back up. Tbh since I reached my goal quite alot has happened. So between changing jobs, changing my training to suit around that and my home life I haven't had much time to post. So I used it as a experiment. The results are I miss this forum. I miss the craic and I miss the support. I have upped my weights a good bit to try and tone plus more strength. My new leg day is destroying me at the weekends as I do it with someone but they only can do it on Fridays. My running has suffered a bit cause of it. I still run twice a week,. Monday I try pacy and then use footie for sprints. I do walk more to stretch things tho. New plans till Christmas. From tomorrow off social media, (get too many ideas) and eat alot cleaner again. Running will get more and more as I start training for duathlons soon. Hope everyone is well. I've had my off peek as so such now back torturing you all.....

Nice to see you back... and that things are still going pretty well. A change of routine can take some coping with. Duathlon still scares me 🤣

Thankyou sir. Duathlon isn't that bad really. Once you over come the transition its all straight forward. It does test your mental strength too. Tomorrow is a big day. Clean eating starts and no Facebook(may struggle). I'll scan twitter but only cause I get info on the local football and my team on there. 4 weeks left of my strength program then into duathlon till December. Wee bit more strength then new year more duathlon I till I do my 4 races. Aim is to get it under an hour. Only 9mins to knock off. 🙄

Not sure my bikes would be suitable... I have an old mountain bike at the back of the garage and my road one has a motor, which I guess is frowned upon 🤣. 9 off to 60 may seem daunting but you’re still developing rapidly... it’ll come.

Facebook I don’t have, I did when it launched but never used it. Clean eating and me wouldn’t get along... the bakery called me after my last long run!

I started with a mountain bike, then changed to road bike, now thinking off going back to mountain bike as I like the mountain biking now. I will get there with a bit more work.

I was doing so well with the eating. Then when I hit my target and then changing jobs it's sorta slipped. Not massively but enough for my body to notice and nudge me to say hey wise up. Little plans is my way forward. Not even thinking of what to do after February's duathlon. I do miss not doing 4 runs a week. I'll just have to build it back up. Still OK doing sub 25 in the 5k(just mind you). I'm happy with my mid section and my finishing section. Just need to work my build up work if that makes sense.

It’s quick... do you do a warm up jog before going for a potential PB? My most enjoyable 5k followed a 15 minute light jog, toxic 10 was gone nicely.

I have a few times but didn't feel it worked. I've started doing a walk before, slowly upping the tempo over a period then starting the run. I've noticed a few positive starts, so may continue with that

Sounds good... it’s whatever works for the individual... I’m looking at 25 and knowing that the last 2 miles would have to hurt me as my toxic 10 is a big issue, after a little warmup it’s gone and so I can run a little more comfortably throughout... still a way to go. I’m doing HM in November, so pace isn’t a focus yet, then I’m aiming at a marathon next autumn, so may as well do HM in the spring. I’m looking at going straight from the marathon to 5k race plans to see how much of that endurance I can turn into pace as I run less miles... couple of years before I’ll know, but it’s good to have plans.

I was listening to a podcast recently that asked the question “what if I’m not enjoying it” to which the answer was to try something else to keep fit... it changed my focus. I’m really enjoying it right now around the 9 mile mark... maybe I will run more longer runs, maybe I’ll not enjoy 20 milers at all... I’ll end up running my happy distances I guess.

Would agree with that. Ive found my calling. 5k to 10k is my area. I'll never be a hm or marathon runner and I'm fine with that. I still don't do park runs or anything. The only person I'm competing with is my lself and my targets with the duathlons and that's what I like.
