Starting S&F while injured

So...I was super excited about starting C25K W4R1 this morning, but had to take the dog out first (she isn’t keen on being my running buddy 🙄). Unfortunately I went over on my ankle and have a light sprain, and have somehow made my knee feel unstable (although it doesn’t hurt). I’m annoyed at myself as I know now I’ll have to pause the running for a week or two...but wondered if starting S&F might mitigate the lack of running progress. Anyone have any experience/wisdom?

Don’t run with an injury, I am afraid that is the best advice and I know it is the one we don’t like hearing. Any injury needs time to heal and then a bit more. Most physio appointments needed can be traced back to an injury that wasn’t treated properly. I go by the saying “I am only doing this once so I will do it right”. Some days it is so hard to stick with. If it is really bad we have some chair exercises and I am sure we had one this week with a cardio chair workout. I will look out for that for you 😀. Rfc x

Thanks so muchfor replying :) I knew I couldn't really run on it - a week's rest should hopefully do the trick. I'm going to try seated cardio first and then venture into the Strength and Flex when i'm up and running again. While I'm replying to you - are you the advocate of Niko Niko running? I've been reading up on it and am definitely giving it a go when I'm back to it :)

Hi there. I am a big fan of Niko Niko but the real big advocate is Discorunner, I am not sure they are on this forum. It is a nice steady form of running and I find my body responds well to it. Wishing you a speedy recovery. Rfc x

I'm currently out of running due to a metatarsal stress fracture. Caroline Jordan is keeping me on my toes (well off my toes actually). The link RFC has given you is one of her workouts, but she has lots on youtube - every one I've tried has been fab. She has cardio, stretching, yoga ... She is relentlessly positive, enthusiastic and caring and specialises in 'Hurt Foot Fitness' good luck. Heal well.
