Hi I am new have not posted before I’ve had both knees replaced I’m having a difficult time with the right knee it is constricted it keeps me from walking without a walker or cane my balance is off I’m depressed and feel very sad every day because I can’t move like I used to I was a very active person. Retired spin a lot of time at home in the house alone ! I don’t like people looking at me. Is there a surgical procedure to straighten out the knee it’s flexed es 35° ?

Dear goldengirl1, welcome here! I don’t know if there is a surgical procedure for your problem. But I can share something about myself. I have osteoarthritis of the knees, and cannot walk long stretches or use stairs a lot. I too used to be a very active person till some 10 years ago.

But I do know that getting out even a bit can help you make friends. I’m in India. In cultures like your’s, asking for help is not common, but do try and reach out and you would be pleasantly surprised. Some people may look at you, and wonder if you want to talk or be helped but may be afraid of a rebuff.

Keep going goldengiri1, and I hope someone else on this forum can help.

Would a good physiotherapist be able to help at all?

Of course. But I don’t think goldengirl1 was asking about that. More telling us how she feels about how things are with her now. Am I right, goldengirl1?

When did you have your last knee replacement and how long between the two operations? Do make an attempt to get out as it really does make you feel better. Does your local gym do a knee rehab course? This would be an ideal place to start. I am just one month post total knee replacement and am just getting around on one crutch now. Going to try to find out if there is a knee rehab course at any of our local gyms as I feel I need to do more and get out more. I suffered from prostate cancer 3 years ago thankfully clear at the moment. I go to a club with other sufferers so am going today and am really looking forward to it. It will take a while for my knee to straighten and I also suffer with short tendons and always have so pain really bad when I am doing both the bending and stretching exercises but must keep doing the exercises even though they are so painful! Hope you can get some help with getting more movement from your knee. I don't know where you live but do try and get out and about even if it is just a few yards down the road and back you may see a neighbour and enjoy a chat.

Take care and keep moving.
