Really confused by being directed to post rather than the question today so answered originally under someone elses answer! Have now moved the post to here!
My motivation is just me really. I have always been active and hate sitting still. My job was as a physical training instructor in the Royal Air Force and I then specialised in Parachuting and became a Parachute Jumping Instructor for about 20 or more years also doing trials work. This is where most of my aches and pains come from but you know I enjoyed every minute and wouldn't change a minute of it. Not many people absolutely love their work and look forward to going going to work every single day but I did.
So, I have always been active and want to stay active as being active and mobile - even if it doesn't actually stop or control the pain does mean the pain is not at the forefront of your mind.
Just remembered that I didn't mention in answer to yesterdays question that I did a Pain Management Course at a local hospital which really helped. If you can find a hospital that runs one then go and do it.
I keep my motivation going as during my air force career there were quite a few flying accidents - 2 air craft crashes with my colleagues on board and I could have been on both of these flights along with other individual accidents. Some close friends and colleagues were killed. When I feel bad I think of all the good years I have had in the last 50 which these friends of mine and their young families at the time never had.
Sorry to be a little morbid but you know I feel I owe it to those people to make the most of every single day I have.
