Hi Kirbydoodle1! 👋🏾

Have you tried other types of injections or physical therapy?

Other injections. Have brace as well does not help. No therapy

Definitely talk to your doctor about therapy. Strengthening the muscles around your hips & knees can make a world of difference. Take care!

I'm starting shots and don't expect surgery for a long time even though I have bone on bone right now. They said I have to keep getting shots until the shots don't work anymore. Most people I talk to say the surgery is great.

Susanace1: the surgery can be great. If your knee is really bad and you have bad bone on bone then knee replacement can be wonderful. Of course it should be the last resort. But women tend to wait longer before having surgery compared to men---and women have worse function and pain than men before surgery. The function part is important because women may not get to the same functional level as a man after surgery. So it is important that you try to keep your muscles in your legs strong. Have you seen a physical therapist to give you exercises? Stay strong!

I'm in the same condition. I've been diagnosed as needing a total knee replacement.

Kirbydoodle1: Sometimes knee replacement is the only treatment that will make a difference. But if you are heavy, please try to lose weight as this can really take pressure off your knees and may let you avoid surgery. I know that can be difficult but smaller portions really help. Keep up posted!

Hi Kirbydoodle1

I'm a physical therapist and work with patient s dealing with OA of the knee.

It is my experience that people who receive maximal benefit prp and stem cell injections follow up with gentle strengthening, flexibility and joint mobility treatments and nutritional and self care education to decrease inflammation and restore healthy body weight and composition. You can get support in these areas of treatment and education from a variety of professionals including but not limited to physical therapists. In my practice, we incorporate massage, laser therapy and pulsed electromagnetic field therapy to improve micro -vascular blood supply and reduce chronic and stagnant inflammation.

All that being said, total or partial knee replacement at some point is a human's best option when dealing with advanced arthritis in the knee.

I wish you health and happiness on your journey. Thanks for sharing,
