Flashing lights and RAS

Hi our 8 year old finally got diagnosed with ras last year and have found the stars site particularly helpful as a family. The only thing I haven't got to understand is he goes through phases of seeing flashing lights and shapes in his vision. Does anyone else have the same alongside ras ? Thanks.

I don't know what RAS is, so I might not be that much help, but I can think of two specific things that cause me to see lights/shapes in my vision. The first is when I'm on the verge of passing out; I usually see some bright spots right before. The second is when I've had an aural migraine. The first one of those migraines that I had, I had blurry vision and shapes out of one eye. The vision problem was so bad that I went to an eye doctor who told me I was having a migraine (the pain didn't hit until the next day). When I asked if it was normal that it was only affecting one eye, she told me that if it were affecting both eyes she'd be sending me to a neurologist.
