Pacemakers?

I have a 17 month old who has reflex anoxic seizures. The last seizure was in hospital under monitoring and she had a 32 second asystole (heart not beating). It has been suggested that she needs a pacemaker. Has anyone had experience with this?

Occasionally it is necessary to fit a pacemaker in a very young child if it is found that during an RAS episode their heart is stopping for a longer than usual period of time. On the STARS website in the patient stories/RAS there is Eliza's story which you may find helpful. You do not say where you live or who your consultant is, but if you would like to email info@stars.org.uk we will try to help you if you want to talk to anyone.
