Yes, all through the winter my right side is much colder, more noticeable, than the left. I feel the cold in my right calf more than anything, but also my right hand. That's not helped by being on the computer a lot, with my right hand on the mouse so much. There are times where even wrapping up using two sleeping bags, with a hot water bottle against my leg, will take some time to 'feel' warm again. The expression 'chilled to the marrow' comes to mind. My hands are often tucked under my armpits, inside clothing, to try and keep them warm. I've not had an accident, it's just gone that way.

I find that trying to keep warm with only my own warmth, hands under the axila etc., totally useless when I feel cold already. I need things to give me heat for example TIA Maria or Brandy, a small amount in hot coffee works quick wonders, or a quick heating electric throw.

I find that a drop of rum works wonders, better than nifedipine,(thins the blood) I did ask if I could have it on perscription but for some strange reason was turned down.

I definitely experience longer and harder to relieve symptoms in my right hand and most noticeably foot. Same number of socks etc. but definitely harder to keep warm. Are you both right-handed? It would be interesting to know if a left-handed sufferer has worse symtoms on the left. As for pins and needles ,I get them everywhere. Can't lean against an arm or leg for any length of time at all. It's all to do with the poor circulation presumably. Meadowsweet tea is good for this (and many other herbs), memo to self I must get back in the habit of drinking this more often again!!!

Hi. I'm left-handed. And, yes, my left foot and left hand gets so disturbingly hurt by the pins and needles as well as swollen, etc...i lost a lot of movement in my left toes, because of Raynauds

I suffer with pins and needles with my arms, hands and feet, I can't lean on my arms period without suffering this after a bit of time.....I also suffer with becoming colder much more quickerly than most my hands(I use fingerless gloves to keep them warm), my back will become very cold (Body Warmer is required for that) my knees suffer as well as my feet( i use thermal socks and also the newer fleeced socks do the job in or out of the bed) I also use fleeced jackets and gillets when ever i can find them they help to a degree.

I am mainly right handed but can write(or used to) with my left hand.....but with arthrtis in my hands I tend to tap away at the keys rather than write which can become painful for me after a while.

I can acquaint too. Even if it is 90 degrees out doors, I never leave home w/o my gloves and extra socks. And I've had the gloves on in the grocery store and yet, by the time I get t the cashier, there have been times I couldn't even manage getting the funds from my purse or the debit card out to pay - they have been like popsicles. I generally have my list and try to shop faster these days.

Hi Thelma

I find the "silver" gloves - from RSA really help Thin enough to count out money use debit card etc Probably could be worn under other gloves but I find they work well on their own

Cheers

I can identify with that too as I get pins and needles in my right hand all the time I'm right-handed, by the way. Leaning on either hand starts the pins and needles. I'm taking 6 Adalat/day at the min and I wear socks all the time. On the hottest day of the year I am freezing and I go white. My ex-husband used to say, "Only you're talking to me I would swear you are dead." Like many of you, this is just getting progressively worse. When first diagnosed about 25yrs ago just the tips of my fingers went white and hurt when blood returned to them. Then it was down to the knuckle and then all the way down the fingers and now its the entire hands. I'm not very mobile as I need to use a crutch to move with - two when I have sciatica. Also, been wearing a brace (support) on my left wrist for 10-11yrs occasionally need one for the right hand too. My GP sent a letter to my Consultant asking him to give me Cortisone injections but he refused saying he believes they are very, "hit or miss". He told me wearing the support would do just as much and to keep wearing. Wearing the supports mean I can wear ordinary gloves so I have a pile of stretchy gloves and pull them over the supports. What am I like? A walking disaster area. Thanks for your answer, Thelma, all the best (:-)

I have found that I got the most incredible headache using this. I agree with the others, a small drop of spirit whatever you can stomach works a lot quicker and the warming effects lasts longer. I'm not sure which is worse the after burn of when your hands start to get warmer or the pins and needles. Buying a body warmer is the best thing. You can tuck your hands into the armholes this works a treat. Buying a goose down quilt also works.
