Colon problems. I have systemic scleroderma and found myself needing surgery for a prolapsed colon. They did the surgery, pulled it back up only to have my colon burst needing emergency surgery. Almost died. Surgeons had never seen anything like this. Doing ok now. Anyone have anything like this?

Hi. Just read your post and although not identical, I also suffered with colon issues. I have had limited scleroderma for over 20 years but it diffused in 2009. I collapsed suddenly, without any warning in 2010, and was rushed into a&e and left for over 9 hours as the scleroderma was masking my colon etc. Like you I nearly died. The outcome was more severe for me; I lost both my colon and large intestine, both of which were necrotised at the time of removal. Sepsis was present also. I now have an ileostomy but am alive! This is a cruel condition we live with but, like you, I am ok now. What I went through certainly put things in perspective and made me realise what really matters in my life. Best wishes. Kim.
